I have a friend who bought a 20 3500 Laramie. He got it pretty well loaded but opted for the 8.4" radio strictly because of the problems with the 12" screen. He has had it for around 6 months and hasn't had any issues with it at all. The 12" screen seems to be one of the only complaints on the Ram 2500/3500 trucks. It's a shame that one component of a vehicle can cause so many issues but these new vehicles control pretty much everything through the infotainment system. Ram needs to figure out a fix for the 19 and 20 trucks. It's amazing to me that they either can't figure out the issue or won't figure out the issue. It seems that their slew of engineers and whoever developed the software could correct this and move on. I was going to go with the 12" when I buy my truck but if I see posts of the 2021 having the same issues I'll just stick to the 8.4" screen and call it good.

For my 2020 I purchased a month ago, I walked the lot at numerous dealers before I found the one I wanted. One of the key items was I wasn't going to settle for the 12" screen due to issues and the 8.4C NAV with Uconnect was a non-starter too as I don't need Nav (Carplay works perfectly) and didn't want UConnect/Guardian. Something to consider with the 4 versus the 4C is with the 4 there is no Guardian to renew at a ridiculous annual rate and no need to update maps nor put up with the crappy FCA Nav in their system. I have the 8.4 with all the functionality I want or need without the added costs or headaches.

Well just got feedback from the dealership. Supposedly they did an update to the infotainment center but failed to address any of the other issues. Will see what happens when I pick it up.

Didn't pick up the truck. After talking with the service rep and getting additional details I am even more frustrated and am not sure whether they are lying or not. When I first brought the truck in for the infotainment issues I was informed there was no update available for because it had the most current update available, now they are saying they did an update????? Next was an alignment issue it has had since I purchased the truck. It pulls to the left (into oncoming traffic) and gets worse as the tires wear. I put a new set of tires on it at 5000 miles and had them rotated shortly before I brought them the truck. They told me that it is pulling because the tires have to be rotated every 5000 miles. I told them to go back to the drawing board with that one and try again. Another issue I have had intermittently is a shudder in the transmission like it is hunting for the correct gear or the torque converter is locking and unlocking. They said they did a scan on the transmission computer and it reports everything is normal. Guess I will just wait until it explodes then maybe they can determine what is wrong with it. The last issue I had them look into is drive line noise that sounds very much like it could be bearing or lubrication related. They said the noise was from the tires. I told them that the new tires I put on the truck are quieter than the factory originals and the drive line noise is getting worse. Another issue that I guess once it fails then they can fix it.

Long time Ram truck fan/owner and now deeply discouraged with them.

So the saga continues. I picked up my truck this past Saturday and questioned what they did with the infotainment center. It sounds like they did what I have read from others that are having the same issues. Chrysler had them do a "reset" twice and then reinstalled the latest update, again. Well that worked for a grand total of about 48 hours and it has locked up again. I am now trying to get back in touch with the dealer about this. Ramcares recommended trying another dealer but I don't believe that is going to help since no dealer in the entire nation seems to be able to fix what is clearly a design issue with these 12" infotainment centers.

Looks like I am going to try and track down the law firm that has entered into a class action lawsuit against Chrysler to see if I can join in.
