My 2013, with a 5.7 & dual exhaust gets around 12.6 to 12.9 around town.
I took it in for recall items (3).
They gave me an early 2019 (same body style as mine) 5.7 with single pipe to drive; it averages 19.5 to 20 around town!
Does the 8 spd tranny vs my 6 spd make that much difference???
I really like my truck, only had it for little over a year (had 33k mi when I bought it); but the gas mileage is making me have 2nd thoughts!

Well, yer 2013 the duals are not true unless U changed the pipes.

But NE way, on MY 19:

Town-- 13-18 mpg
On Hwy-- Up to 22 mpg hand calc.

8 Speed makes a big difference, IMHO................

ADDED: On MY 19, dual tips, but same as 13: Y cross over into real big pipe, flows to dual outlet muffler to resonators to tips. Dodge/RAM been doing it like this for a while, just FYI...

I would still do the math on it! If you are happy with your 2013 (gas mileage aside) then you will most likely come out a lot cheaper monthly than buying new. Especially if most of your driving is short distances around town. How many miles do you average per day?

My 14 with 3.92 gears only got 14/15 around town with 8 speed. 19/20 around town for any truck sounds high.

This right here. I'm getting the same with my 16 sport, same gears. Although I have managed to get as high as 22mpg on some road trips. Wind, weather, flat ground, amount of people on the highway, etc all play a factor but nonetheless.

Wondering what gears each truck has? Trans and gears difference between the two could explain a lot.

Yep like jrod said my 14 would get 22 on long trips. In and out of the campsite all day slow stop and go not so good.

I am in the same boat as the OP. I have a 2013 R/T and I average 12-13 regardless of how I drive.

According to my cluster, I average around 17.5 with a 5.7/6 speed. I've stretched mine to 21-22 on road trips.

Would the '19 Ram Classic have etorque or is that exclusively on 5th gen trucks?

I could imagine etorque having a big effect on city mpg.

My '15 5.7L 6speed 4x4 w/ 3.55 gears struggles to get out of 13.x mpg in town and I've never had a 20mpg+ tank even on long road trips. I do have a 2" lift and 285/70r17 tires (stock for the Tradesman were 265/70r17) - but I think there is just always going to be a huge mpg difference between the 6speed transmission and 8speed. We could debate maintenance and durability but when it comes to power delivery and fuel efficiency the 8 speed is a clear winner all day long.

I had a 2012 Express quad cab 4x4 6sdp 5.7L and averaged 14MPG

With my 2015 Laramie Crew Cab I am averaging 16MPG the 8spd makes a difference. I do mostly highway driving and I just bought the truck so I am expecting it to go up.

13-14 MPG around town 17 1500 w 3.92. I guess I’m one that’s not really concerned with gas mileage. I guess 13-14 is decent with the bolt on mods. Pedal Commander being set at Sport ++2 doesn’t help much. Lol

Have a 18 PW. Had RC 4.5 suspension lift installed, 37.13 toyo mt and 17 in moto metal rims. Love it and the way my truck runs and looks. I get about 10.6 mpg on the highway. You don’t drive a truck for its mpgs. The 6.4 could use some more power.

I am getting horrible mileage, about 6.5 mpg around town on my 2012 5.7L Hemi 70K miles on the truck. Pretty much stock everything (stock tyres, no engine mods or exhausts). . I havent had it for very long.

I was wondering if it needed maybe a fuel filer change, but when I try to search for the 5.7 fuel filters, all I am getting is the diesel engine in the results. Where is the fuel filter located on the vehicle and where to buy?

Any other ideas why it would be getting such bad mileage? I already changed the air filter. I have not done the spark plugs as yet, because I read somewhere that they should be good for 100k miles. Any ideas where else to look to improve the mpg?
