How many have had the dealer reflash the computer to delete or cancel the MDS from activating? Any noticeable downfalls?

Yeah your mileage will suffer. Why do you want to get rid of it?

Actually most guys report very little to no change in MPG... didn't know dealers would flash it off tho.

I turned mine off with my Diablo InTune, gained around 1.5 mpg (average) city and lost about 1 mpg (average) freeway. So many variables change mileage though, I just love the way the truck drives and sounds without constantly trying to swap to 4 cyl mode!

Never heard of any dealer doing it. Why would a dealer turn off a Eco friendly feature?

Honestly I hate the feature. For where and how I drive it is constantly "searching" for the right mode to be in. Not to mention the truck sounds like it is on its last leg when MDS is on.

As far as gas milage, if I was worried about getting better milage I would have purchased a car not a truck.

Well you asked for downfalls so I gave you one. Other than that there aren't any

If you have the 8 speed it's pretty easy to turn mds off. Just use the manual shift buttons to downshift then shift back up to 8 and it's off until you shift to park.

The dealers can't/won't turn MDS off. If you have a 6 speed if you drive in "5" or "6" the MDS will not come on. If you have an aftermarket exhaust and the MDS comes on, IMHO it sounds just like ****! You can buy a tuner and the tuner can be programmed to turn the MDS off.

Pretty sure the dealer can't turn it off. You need to get yourself some kind of tuner if it bothers you. Make sure the pcm software is up to date. There was a tsb for a flash for exhaust drone when in mds mode. I did it right after I got mine and it helped quite a bit.

use the manual shift buttons on the stick and keep it in a gear or use a tuner. I got almost 2 more mpg's by using a tuner

Hi Z-rider.
If you shift down once so that the 6 is lit instead of the D then you will still have all 6 gears and MDS will be off. You have to do it each time you shift out of park but hey it will tell you if ECO mode is the problem.
Have a great day,
