I'm brand new to the RAM lineup. Just bought a new 2012 Laramie. Coming from a sports car background, it's very hard to not want to upgrade the new truck as well (wife thinks I've completely lost it now). I'll admit my learning curve on the RAM is slower than it should be. I'm wondering if when sourcing parts will all parts found for 2009+ work on my 2012? I assume 99% maybe?

For instance, I used R1 Rotors on a Cherokee SRT and want to use them on the RAM now too. The site only goes to 2009.. will they work on my 2012?

Any help is much appreciated.. I'd love to have a full understanding of the generation as finding aftermarketg parts specifically for "2012" is proving harder than I expected.

most parts for a 2009-10 will work for 2011-12 trucks. dodge may have modified a few things here and there, where getting something meant for a 09 to work on a 12 might be a little harder than it should be. The only thing you need to watch out for is programmers. Nothing is out for 2011-12 yet. No one has been able to break the encryption code yet. Damn dodge and their computer geeks. I would assume those brakes would work. Your best bet is find out what size rotors come on the truck and if those are the same size than they should work. Also when searching for parts, on most sites 2009-10 will be listed under Dodge for make of vehicle and 2011-12 will be under Ram. Ram is becoming there own brand.

Welcome to RF, and welcome to the RAM! Your gonna love your truck. Souds like he covered it all, and yes unfortunately there's no tuners as of yet. But hold faith, they'll figure it out pretty soon.

Rotors are the same from 2002-2012, so you are good to go there.

Intakes, exhaust systems, throttle bodies, etc are all the same for the 09-12.

You want better brakes for your 2012 Laramie ???

Man, the brakes on mine are the best I have ever had on a truck, or car for that matter.

Breathe on them and you are stopping. If they worked any better, I'd bounce my head off the windshield.

Understand my primary experience with vehicles is sports cars, not trucks. What you're describing is what I feel in Corvettes, definately not the truck. I think if you knew what real stopping power felt like, you'd feel the same way I do about the brakes in the Laramie. Yes, they are fine and work great. I wouldn't debate that. I'm looking for better. Again, I'm used to about 3x the stopping power and I realize I'll never get that without upgrading to a Brembo style 4-piston brake kit with SS braided lines and much better pads. This truck is much heavier than sports cars are.. even then you wouldn't get the same stopping power. However, there is definately room for improvement.. especially while towing.

Haven't towed with mine yet, as per the break in schedule in the manual (but that will change hopefully this weekend).

But everything I tow has good brakes on the trailer, so I doubt it will be much of a change for me.

I do understand you are looking for better, but man, I'd be afraid to drive it with better brakes until I got used to it. Brakes are but 1 of the reasons I traded in my silverado and got the Ram.
