I've posted a few times on the fact that dealerships in my area (Denver) won't come close to the coveted "20% off MSRP" deal but.........

GMC is currently offering 20% off of Silverado LT's and Sierra SLT's. I was hoping to use this as motivation for RAM to match the GM offer. Nope. Found a Sport CC 4x4 with every option I want and used the GM offer as leverage to get the same deal on the Sport and the best RAM would do was 15% off.

I'm aware of the deals at Dennis Dillon and the like, I just wanted to complain as a frustrated future RAM owner. Nothing more than a rant. Thanks for listening.

It's CREW CAB SLT/Silverado LT models. Offer expires July 8th. Check out their website. Honestly made me want to consider the Sierra. Nice Truck.

Yup the Sierras are nice! Although they look like they should be in the next edition of the Transformers series of movies.... I've always been a die hard GM guy but I went with RAM because:

1. Cheaper at the time (Feb 2016)
2. Convenience package with the remote keyless features on RAM
3. 8 speed transmission stock
4. Better looking interior IMO
5. Just a beefier looking truck, even the All Terrains don't seem to sit as high as a RAM 4x4
6. Sam Elliot is a bad ass

There's no doubt that Sam Elliot is a badass! Lol. Don't get me wrong, RAM is my first choice but the dealers here just don't want to "deal". I really figured I'd get them to make a deal at 20% off since GMC is doing it. The GM deal definitely made me notice the Sierra more. It's a nice truck.

True statement when I mentioned the discounts to a GMC salesman he said "that's not competition, that's another truck".

I like the look of the sierra and silverado's from the front and the rear, but i think its horensous to look at from the side. I just think the lines flow terribly......and the square wheel wells.......i just cant stand them and beleive me, i treid ( I owned a 2010 Silverado LTZ ).

I kicked myself after the first year of owning my silverado. It was slow, underpowered and just simply underwhelming. At the time, i wanted a Ram, but the deal ( 25% off sticker during the height of the recession and $3k in gm bucks ), i couldnt pass it up.

3 months after it was paid off, i got my 2015 Sport, fully loaded and it completely ***** all over my old silverado. I know i'm not comparing the new generation gm trucks here, but even the interior dash configuration of the new gm trucks ( asside from the guage cluster ) is just a gigantic mess of ****. I just cant get over how terribly laid out everything looks.

Just my 2 cents

I forget from the other threads.... are you pricing out gas or diesel?

If diesel, the Chevy/GMC is a super nice truck (I'm sure their gas are too for that matter - I've just been researching diesels).

The Duramax/Alison is one hell of a combination. I had an 06 before my current 6.4 Hemi and loved it. I mainly went with my Ram due to the coil rear suspension. I really like the way it drives both with and w/o towing. The leafs just feel clunky and stiff while the coils are more smooth - albeit still harsh as with any HD truck.

You really can't make a bad choice with any truck these days. They are all totally amazing compared to just a few years ago. Keep hounding the Ram guys.... they'll cave after awhile.

My Brother has bought a couple recent Chebys because they are a better deal than RAMS or Ferds where he lives. But they are more car like and he uses his more as a car than truck. My brother in law, who needs more of a work truck, swore off GMs years ago and buys nothing but RAM now days, usually power wagon types. They are much more useful on the farm, take a heck of a lot more abuse and are much easier to fix in a pinch, their problems seem to be minor in comparison to GMs.

Now those that just want a car shaped like a truck, nothing wrong with GM, as long as the design flaws don't bite you. I was bitten with DRL modules that catch fire, overdrive units on high dollar cars that self destruct about 1000 miles after the warranty runs out, the use of a 25 cent gasket where a 75 cent gasket would have saved $1000 in repairs at 75,000 miles and defective/cracked cylinder heads. I will not go back, but that just may be me. They do make a couple decent reliable vehicles, but I for one am not taking another chance.

GM trucks are nice cars, and if you trade them annually (my brother trades his every two or three years) they are not typically a problem.

Shop around outside the Denver area--maybe Greeley, Loveland, Ft Collins, Castle Rock or even Colo. Springs.

Grass is not greener with Chebby or GMC. Bought a new 2014 Silverado that developed some serious interior fit rattling behind the dash and rear window area. Then at about 6 months in on ownership, the drivetrain started shaking like a ***** in a hot dog factory. Got the standard "it's normal" with no help and took the loss at trade in and moved on.

When you register on one of the major Chevy/GMC truck boards and they have a whole forum section dedicated just for problems, tells you something.

I owned 3 GM's in the course of my life and yeah I can attest to this, they seem to be pretty lazy with fitment on their interiors. Lots of interior squeaks and other noises. My last GM was 2003, maybe they've improved since then but I don't know.

Just some things to consider... why does GM have to discount their vehicle so much, why isn't Ram discounting their vehicle as much?

Its been my experience that GM is significantly overpriced in comparison to the Ram. Dollar for dollar, 15% off a Ram might be cheaper than 20% of a GM.

Also, if they are selling the Rams at 15% off, why would they discount further? Conversely, if GM is struggling to sell their trucks, they are more likely to discount 20%.
