So yesterday the dealership messed up my AMP Powersteps during an oil change, fortunately they said they'd pay to fix them. I left to go to the custom shop to get them fixed and got hit by a semi on the way there at a red light. The light turned green and this ******* just rolls right into me. The car in front of me hadn't moved and he must have thought me being stopped still meant he should start moving?!?! I just had the truck wrapped two weeks ago and had the bumper replaced a week before that. Needless to say I'm beyond mad. If the truck wasn't lifted it would have been really bad. His semi had more damage from my Hitch than my bumper did, but it's still a complete replacement and re-wrap costing $1000. The pic doesn't make it look that bad, but the bumper got pushed up and dented on both sides.

Ouch, That really sucks and what would make it worse for me is that I'd be thinking over and over that the dealer started the chain of events by damaging the steps. Without that you would not had been at that place at that time.

I read the title and thought this is crazy. To see a little dented bumper is a relief. Shouldnt cost you anything, I would assume he had insurance. I had a truck hit me a few years back and the company just cut me a check to avoid their insurance.

Happy to see that's all the damage. I was expecting to see some portion of the truck crushed in. Glad you're Ok.

Sucks to have a stock of bad luck. BTW, I have AMP steps, how did the dealer mess them up?

They put it on the lift wrong. The arm for the front drivers side put pressure on the steps and bent the rocker panel up. The super high tech fix...force the step out and then jump up and down on them to bend the rocker panel back.

Seriously? What did that do to the paint? I'd be sure to inspect that for cracks and make them repair it as well. Underneath the cab like that you won't see the warning signs before it's too late to fix reasonably.

I expected your truck to be destroyed with your title.

+1. I was expecting a truck like this (or worse)...

It does suck that he hit you, but it could have been worse. Just looking at the glass half full. :favorites13:

I have my truck wrapped but the custom shop looked at everything and said I'm okay...and trust me, those guys would have LOVED to bill the dealership a TON of money if they could have. They actually offered to give me a bill saying I paid for 2-3 hours of labor to give the dealership even though it took 2 minutes and they did it for free...after the accident happening I declined to keep karma on my side.

For sure...just mad because I got $12k worth of work done on the truck recently and have only had it back for 1.5 weeks. So after spending all that money to have it perfect in my eyes...it hurts to see some dummy ruin it. I am extremely grateful I'm okay and it is only the bumper and not the entire truck. I've seen firsthand how much damage a semi can do with minimum speed to a passenger vehicle...so I'm very lucky.

Not only did they bend your step, they cause damage to the rocker panel! I'd let the owner know you weren't servicing your vehicle there anymore and letting all your friends know how they go about fixing things. You probably have damage you can't see and the elements will get in there and start doing what they do best.

Lets see some photos of your wrap job.

The AMP Steps attach to the rocker panels to start with. If you look at the install instructions for the steps they even say to jump up and down on the steps a few times. As I said before...the custom shop didn't see any damage and they looked at it pretty thoroughly. The actual step itself didn't get bent, so everything structurally to the rocker and steps is okay.

As for pics of the wrap...I think it's page 4 on my build thread:

Oh, and as for stuff about the dealership...they were extremely cool about everything and said they'd pay whatever it took to repair the damage. They also have gone above and beyond on other things when it's come to taking care of my truck and SUV. They actually have done a lot of free work to fix minor things and have also done a few major things they could have charged me for free as well. My opinion is that if a dealership goes above and beyond to keep a customer happy...even a mistake like this isn't worth ruining that relationship. Things are bound to happen...just like getting hit by the semi...it's life. I had a major health scare 2.5 years ago and almost died...being negative or sweating stupid mistakes that get fixed isn't worth investing time in.
