Gave the guy the estimates and he was shocked. Looks like we are going through insurance. I’ve called and setup a claim through his insurance as I refuse to pay even my $100 deductible. At this point I’m not surprised but worried as I didn’t want to miss the morimoto BF sale and picked up the new HXB 4 bangers which are not cheap. I would love for the insurance to cover them as They will be replacing them anyways. My fogs are Amazon aftermarket LEDs but not the price of the 4 bangers. Will have to see how this plays out.

I can't believe some of what I hear , it flew off his truck so the stupid cop says it is road debris. BS. His insurance is the one that should be fixing your truck, if you want to do it your self, than they pay for that as well . We can't have a licence with out have full insurance coverage.
Where I live. Antique car or truck is different, but you had better have something.
I hear stories about ******** driving with out insurance . should lose their ride.

If it's a crash or road debris or unsecured load does not relieve the other party of civil liability. If I swing my door too hard and in to your door it is not a crash but I am liable for the damage.

If you are at a super market & you empty the shopping cart, then leave the cart somewhere & the wind picks up & the cart rolls across the parking lot & bumps some ones vehicle or a person & does damage.
The last person to touch the cart, is responsible for damages

Laws like that are why hardware stores, etc. won't tie your load down
They load it & advise you to tie it down properly before you drive any where

I don't think you will have any problem with his insurance, especially after they see the vid of it flying off his truck.

I totally get trying to be nice and working with guy direct, but you are way better off with insurance dealing with, especially since the ags took a shot. That is, after all, the reason for insurance. It is an accident, albeit very scary.

Also, you are not required to use the shop your insurance recommends. AFAIK, you can have a body shop of your choice fix it. At least, here in FL you can.

If the insurance company has what they call a certified body shop you can choose it, and then the damage repair is guaranteed for life. If you choose your own bodyshop the damage repair is not guaranteed for life. This policy is what the insurance companies use, to entice people to use the insurance companies choice, because the insurance company has special rates through their own chosen body shop.

Just wanted to update. Got the guys insurance involved and they sent out a estimate guy. Came up with about $3,300 in damage with their guy. They are mailing me a check to my home address, and I can decide to go through a shop of my choice or fix it myself. Additional monies can be requested if needed at least for a shop but I'm not sure if I can do that if I do the repair myself. The good news is that even at the lower $3300 it should cover everything no problem including a paint matched rear bumper and if I get what I can "pre painted" it shouldn't take me more than 1 day to a weekend to install.

All J can say is thank God it hit your truck low , because if it was higher you might not be here to tell about it . Sorry about your truck , glad you didn't get hurt .
Many years ago me and my wife were behind a Honda Civic and the sunroof glass came out and coming at us . We both ducked and nothing. It must have got caught in the airflow as it came over the hood and it landed behind us . My wife seen it hit the road . It would have killed us , the poor girl driving stopped and we stopped behind her ,she was scarred ****less , but okay otherwise .

I just got a new cover for my truck, and it's the same brand as the one I had for my old truck. It now comes with safety straps that clamp on to the lip of the truck bed in addition to the normal clamps. I suppose in effort to keep this exact sort of thing from happening if clamps come loose or break.

Got just about all the parts for the fix and conversion!

Front and rear pre painted color matched steel bumpers arrived and they look real good. Rear bumper I opted for fully assembled so it comes with all new plastics, brackets and lights etc all pre installed… even new hardware for the install. These are a 2-3 coat base and 2 coat clear and they are FAST. Got the rear bumper in less than 1 week and the front I got this past Friday.

Upper front bumper cover, opted for new but just primed as they wanted $550 for a painted non folded for shipping version, got a new one for $100 and a qt of paint and 2k clear for $100 which I will use for the grille as well. Grille is in and picked up a few clips and stuff so I have everything Just in case. Tested and assembled the new morimoto HXB 4 banger fogs and they are beasts! All I need to do is paint the upper front cover and grille and wait for winter to be over.

One annoying thing is that the AGS has been annoying the $hit out of me. I pulled the unit to check and I’m pretty sure the motor/actuator is bad and causes my Cel to come on which kills my remote start. No one but one company sells the motor by itself and it’s $160 for a d@mn servo. I don’t want the AGS at all but no one can confirm if it can be deleted with AlFAOBD. I have purchased the knock off motor and will get that modified and relocated so I don’t have to worry about it for now and delete the AGS. Also picked up a cheap rear tailgate badge and color matched it. Wish it was better quality but not many options with the factory beveled edge perimeter like stock. All the nicer bagels are hard edge which I don’t really like and are a 2 piece design.

Good news is so far with everything I’m $900 lower than what the insurance gave me and I’m getting better fogs, paint matched front and rear bumpers!
