Damn what paint did you use? Did you try to cure them on the truck like it tells you to on the can?

high heat paint rarely works. This is why I always say to go with a true ceramic coated if you can swing the extra $100. I tried painting a set of Hedmans on my 03 as well, and they were a ball of rust in 6 months. I swapped them out for ceramic coated Pacesetters and never looked back.

I broke 3 of the heat shield studs but all the bolts came out of the head no problem. I soaked them with wd-40 twice after I got the heat shields off. I didn't paint them. I bought them that way. I was going to get ceramic coated til I came across these. It was to good a deal to pass up. And so far no cel. The non fowlers are workin. I don't think I will be able to drive with my cutout open any more. It sounds like a racecar now.

I remember that you got these for a great price. They will last you a year or so before the rust starts to really take over. You may end up having to pull them off and either have them coated, or try the high heat ceramic paint. My Hedmans were rusted very badly after about 8 months, so just keep an eye on them.

Very Nice Job, I did mine when it was cold out so no soaking of the Bolts. Sure wish I got Ceramic but were not avail at the time. Used Spray Bombs with ceramic crap but like you they bubbled. After 3 years i took em off for another repaint(last Fall Cam swap) and used Black, the rust has come back. I will probably need a new set in the next 3 years. Like the chrome ones on my Car as they only Blued a bit after one year but then again its a nice weather ride.

Very noticeable hp gain. And the sound is amazing. Maybe a lil to loud with the cutout open now. Don't want to much attention from the popo.

Just ordered my long tubes and they are NOT ceramic coated. can i get some ceramic coating at any auto parts store?

No, ceramic coating is just like powdercoating in that it has to be baked onto the headers...it is not just a paint. You will need to have a local shop do it, but they normally charge $200-$250...that is why I always tell everyone to buy them coated from the start...its cheaper for you in the end.

The OP bought these cheap in the classifieds here, but when buying new, I wouldn't even consider uncoated mild steel headers.
