GPS Problems 2016-2017 Ram Trucks

Is anyone have problems with their GPS in their 2017 Ram Tucks?
I can't program the GPS at my home, nor can the GPS find my home, I live in the country on a dirt road. GPS keeps saying "Entering A Restricted Area".

Family and friends can find our location.
Took to dealer 3 of their 2017 ram trucks couldn't find our location, but 2018 and 2019 Ram trucks could.

Sounds like it needs an update to incorporate new maps. Your NAV system was probably built sometime in 2016.

Try entering the coordinates and marking them as home. I've been able to do that over the years even though our NAV's are junk.

Even when buying a new vehicle with OEM navigation, the "current" released maps for them are 1 to 2 years out of date most times. Stand alone navigation systems are slowly going out of favor to smart phone based Android and Apple Carplay apps.

Sounds like a valid reason to convince the wife that you need a 5th gen...

Ten4us: honey, I know I said this would be the last truck I ever bought BUT its GPS cant't find our house. The New 2019's can though so can I trade it in for a new one?

Wife: sure, why not. How can I argue with sound logic. And on our way home from the dealer we can stop & buy that 80" tv you've been wanting.....

GPS error for about 2 days, showing travel on streets 6 miles away. Did this on Previous Destination for an destination 30 miles away in opposite direction, as well on just map display with no destination set. Exited nav and re-entered several times. Started working OK today. 2017 Laramie 1500. Any experiences with this issue? Thanks in advance.

I think you need to update the software (NOT the maps) on your radio:

you need from the dealer a RRT 99999 update for your Navigation system

My GPS went fluky once a couple of weeks ago. Luckily I didn't really need it I was just practicing since he truck is new to me.
But yesterday I did the firmware update to 18X.
Haven't used the GPS since but hopefully that fixed it.
