I'm going after work today to pick up my "new" '04 1500 Quad Cab 4x4. It's just my kind of truck; manual transmission, manual windows, manual locks. The only thing that would make it better is a carburetor.

The last Dodge I owned was a '77. So I'm here to learn the quirks of the new models. It looks like it should be easy to work on. My goal is to get it back to stock, reliable condition to be my daily. I'm comfortable with a wrench, I just need to know what to look for.

Thanks. I haven't had the best luck with cars the last couple years. Hoping this one works out.

Welcome to the forums! I have one of those, everything is manual, doors, windows, t-case, except the transmission is an automatic 545RFE. The only problem I have had is the driver door switch keeps the 'door open' light on the dash, have a new switch coming. Oh and the dodge paint/clear coat peels. Truck is very reliable and the 5.7 is a beast. What engine did you get?

Mine's the 4.7. It's got a non-stock muffler so it sounds mean... but I'm not sure it could outrun a school bus. The kid that owned it threw on some 35x12.50R20s and I doubt he changed the gears. 0-60 in thirty minutes or less. I doubt he fixed the speedo either, so I really don't know where 60 is anyhow.

Didn't pick it up today as planned. The dealer is having a problem getting the OBD port to communicate so he can clear the "check engine" light and get it inspected.

Sounds like a beautiful truck, my truck did not have an OBD port when I bought it. I was the dealership technician that performed the used car inspection and bought it on the spot. Too bad your were not able to pick it up today. Maybe tomorrow. :welcome:
