Okay boys and girls I need your input on options. I currently have in my garage the sport chrome horizontal grille insert and a black honey comb grille insert that come on the express. I have some stuff on order and things in the works to black out my truck. Do you think I should go with the black honey comb grille or paint the chrome sport horizontal flat black? Thanks for your input.

Paint the chrome slats black. No offense to anyone with the honeycomb. And i actually like the look. But the paint will look better.

both will look good, but i tend to like the horizontal bars more because you can't see in behind them quite as well as you can with the honeycomb.

Maybe I'm biased here, but I painted my horizontal inserts black. I think it flows better with that lower plastic insert where your light bar mounts.

Yeah I like the painted sport grille insert idea the more I think about it.

Horizontal...Like it was mentioned earlier, you can't see behind those as easily as honeycomb. It will look awesome.

I just hit the dealership and got instructions on removing the insert. I hope to have that mod complete today.

Oh no don't tell me that. It's bad enough it's only 4 degrees outside I hope the cold plastic does not break. Any pointers for me Butch?

first do it inside where its warm....LOL seriously though with it that cold you probably will snap off clips that hold it in. The pita about the process is the whole grill insert is tied together (one piece) and there are many clips around all 4 sections and you get one side good, start the other and the first side freaking clips back in. You need the plastic to be able to flex - even the grill shell.

Not trying to scare you but it would seriously suck to break ****.

definately do it in a warm place. I put a towel down on my dining table and did it there. With it flipped over, start with section 1 along the bottom and move along around it unclipping the tabs. Some will pop back in but that is going to happen. Next move on to section 2. The goal is to get that half of the insert completely unclipped. Once you have achieved that, do the same for 3 & 4.

So pop the plastic pins out of the top first, then lead grill forward, and remove clips in the bottom and take the grill inside and go from there? That is the only way I can do it warm. My garage is only 7' and full of crap.
