GT for Hemi Plus Question

Maybe a silly question but im new to this whole thing.
just wondering where the power supply comes from. Does if have to pass through the firewall into the fuse box or can it be powered from the connections inside the vehicle?

It is powered inside the vehicle Everything you need to use the BullyDog comes in the box ready to go, with the exception of an update sometimes. Additionally there is now support for the 2011 and 2012 4.7l engines!!! You can find a keyed on power supply within the truck itself and tap into it but it comes with a clip to attach to a fuse so you will have to go through the firewall.

I went through the firewall via the clutch block out plate and used a piggy back fuse so no cut wires. If I want it removed I can just use a plug in the plate.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking to get one soon and install it. Is this pretty simple to do? Are the instructions pretty clear that come with the unit?

So the physical install is pretty easy and self explanatory. Where you may experience a bit of confusion is when you go to update the software/firmware due to the lack of detail in the instructions. As I said in an earlier post however is that Bullydog has an unsurpassed tech support team that will walk you through it step by step.
I was toying with the idea of using the power from the auto dimmer on the rear view mirror. Someone posted how he was able to power his radar detector this way. I decided against it and ran the power wire through the firewall, it was very easy. Everything you need to do it is provided.

I can attest to the BD tech support. A few years ago, I was able to get some help from a BD tech on a Saturday because my tuner locked up on me. I let a friend try it, and he didnt completely remove the tune before givnig it back. When I loaded the tuner, it locked up my computer an hour from home. They helped me out on a weekend so that I could drive back home.

It took me a couple of tries to get it installed (on a sunday of course). I would download the update software with the sd card in the tuner it self. Take it to the truck plug it in, if it goes the first time than your good to go, if not hook it back up to the computer re download the update and try again.

had mine installed today, had to call tech support from Bully Dog, they were awesome. although I updated as per instructions, still code 261 vehicle not supported, so they hooked up to my computer and added some files. then later in the installation another code, think it was 221 or so, another update to the SD card via tech support. at he end everything works and will test the truck on the road tomorrow.
Again, great tech support.
