First off, just want to say hi, I've been creeping for a few weeks on this forum and it's incredibly resourceful and helpful.
I am trying to hardwire my V1 radar detector into my truck. I have a 14 Ram 1500 Express Crew Cab.
I know about the link to speedy's garage and the mirror tap harness sold my blendmount, etc.
I bought one and took apart my mirror and found the same wires to tap into as is shown in the following video:

My question however is that because my mirror isn't auto dimming, etc. like shown in the video, and because I only have the compass module overhead, I am not finding a switched power supply. I can either have a constant feed off the console lights or no power. Any help to be had?
I was hoping to avoid having to run a cord all the way from the mirror area through the headliner, down the a-pillar to underneath the dash but it seems thats what I may have to do.
Is it because I'm an express as opposed to a higher level trim package that I'm not able to pull this off? I don't have homelink, auto dimming, etc.
I can take a pic of the back of my mirror connection if you guys want.
