Has anyone checked the KBB value of their Ram lately?

I'm just wondering because apparently my 22' Laramie has dropped 10k since I checked it less than two weeks ago according to KBB.

i have not for the truck, but the wife is starting to try and sell her Mazda cx5,but around my area kbb means nothing unless i'm trying to trade it in.the kbb says for her model and mileage it's worth between 25-30k.for trucks we're better off selling it private.Canada drives offered her 25k

Things have dropped a bit since the crazy highs a year or so ago. 10K in two weeks doesn't sound right. I know there are lots of different things to select so be sure you're comparing apples to apples (private party, excellent condition, miles, location, color, etc.).

I'm actually glad to see the values drop since I'm selling the company that owns my truck and am going to be taxed on the value I receive when I keep it.

Yep, as expected prices are dropping. lots are filling up with new trucks, used inventory is way up and things are settling back down.

Haven't looked lately but trucks identical to mine were listed for $50,000 6 months ago. The MSRP on the window sticker was $54,000 5 years ago...lol. truck is a 2018 2500 6.4 with 4.10's. No idea what they are advertised for today but with rising interest rates and the economy in the tank I'm not surprised.

It all depends on model and location. Checked mine yesterday out of curiosity, averaged at $75K. Still $8K over what I paid for it.

Mine is still about $13K (2014 4x4 RCSB Tradesman, 135K miles) which is what I paid for it 4 years ago w/ 106K on the clock, so I'd say it's holding its value well. Of course with all the mods I'd say she's worth a lot more than that, priceless to me of course.
I've seen similar trucks (usually crew cabs) on lots for way more of course. One example is a 2011 RCSB outdoorsman with 154K for $13K. Crazy.

No.

I'm not planning to sell it, so no need to.

It's kinda like most of the population's retirement accounts. OK, the stock market drops and the current value of their investment falls like a rock. But they haven't actually lost anything unless they sell at the bottom.

Then again, all vehicles (especially trucks, it seems) were so over-inflated the last couple years that a drop is a good thing overall. Maybe not for someone that paid the over-inflated price, but for the rest of the population.

For context, I bought my 2020 in November of 2019. At the time my 2015 Sport with several packages and 25k miles had a private party value on KBB of about $24k. If I had just parked it, it would be worth $29-33k today. Instead, I sold it to my son for $10k (what he got for his fairly base 2013 with 80k IIRC).

OK, you made me do it. Current Private Party value on my '20 is $40-44k. I paid $48k, 3+ years and 25k miles ago... Prices are still over-inflated.

I just looked mine up. '17 Sport with 71k miles, I paid $31.9k two weeks ago. KBB says $29k-33k. NADA says $30k-34k. Right on the money.

What about the C10...? Or does KBB not have the proper options available :)

Recently checked KBB for my loaded '17 Rebel. Came in at $35k trade-in (VG condition, low miles).

Well, that might be a bummer.... however, these things we call automobiles are by their nature AND Madison Avenue, depreciating liabilities! We do want that process to be as slow as possible, though! :)

I figure my 2020 Power wagon is worth about the equivalent of a 1989 olds cutlass with worn out tires and a case of budweiser in the trunk.

Yes, depreciation is the name of the game!

Interesting related note. About 10 years ago my father was looking at moving out of his house after my mother passed away. We considered getting a mobile home to put on our property. I was at first shocked. and then comforted(?) after reflection that they depreciate rather than appreciate, like "real" houses.

That better be some pretty special Bud in there, because it can't hold many more than a few kegs worth.

Just checked my 2020 2500 CC Longhorn w/ 31k miles, right at $58k on NADA. I paid $59k exactly 2 years ago.
