Had to laugh about this 6 years ago today. This happened and I was driving thru the same place about the same time tonight. ..............
. On the way back home. Four deer were out for a jog tonight. Well they did not look both ways before crossing the road. So hence they played tag with a Ram. They have to be part of Santa's crew because they took off flying. They did not tear up my front end to bad . I have already located the parts and am just under my insurance deductible. Unless I added labor in then it would go over but I see no reason it is a easy fix . Then the down side other than the dead deer is I just put the truck up for sale tonight . Oh well that's life. I guess the saying if you can't Dodge it Ram it 1f642.png

Deer are a HUGE problem where I live. The area is very rural and two-lane roads. In the past 10 years, I've had two deer hits on my 2012 Ram.

Now, it must be said, I did not hit the deer...each time the deer ran into me.

Both times were at 2:30 AM. (I leave really early for work) First one the deer ran at me full speed, impacted the driver side between the door and wheel well, did a "cartwheel" (watched the airborne rotating tumbling deer fly by my window) and crashed into the lower body panel just in front of the rear wheel. When I stopped to examine the damage, don't ask me how, there was a strip of deer hair about 6" long embedded between the rim and tire on my rear wheel. NO idea how that happened. Oh, and deer crap smeared all over the side of the bed.

Second time the deer ran right into the front bumper, driver side. Fortunately no airbag deployment, but the bumper was toast.

My brother-in-law likes venison. In a single day, he managed to tag out last weekend while hunting on my place. It's not uncommon to count 40-50 deer wandering across my pasture in the evening. I don't care for venison, but I make my place available for friends and relatives who do.

6 years between deer strikes? in the last month i ran over a deer that a semi hit and threw into my lane that I couldn't avoid while driving the tesla.4 days ago the same thing happened while driving the Ram.some lady coming the other direction slammed one and threw it in front of me.i had to drag it off the road while it was still twitching.luckily I didn't run that one over.no wonder my dog is always sniffing around the vehicles.

Up here we have a Moose hazard. I've been lucky so far, last close encounter, a big cow moose ran out in front of me and fell. I was so close when I got stopped that all I could see was the tops of her ears. I don't drive fast on that stretch of road any more. I've had close encounters on both Hwy 11 and Hwy 17 in Northern Ontario.

one time back in my early 20's i was booking down the highway around midnight in my big block trans am,probably doing around 80 mph when a herd of bighorn sheep decided to cross in front of me. all i could do was close my eyes and pray. i can't believe i didn't hit a single one.my passenger absolutely freaked,he thought we were dead.

Jagman, you really lucked out with your Ram. Couple of years ago, I was coming home from a Service District Commissioners meeting in my wife's Kia Sorento, when a little seven-point buck decided to commit harikari by running out in front of me---I was booking along at about 60 MPH. When the dust settled and the final tally from the body shop came in --$12,000. Only thing that kept that crate from being totaled was the fact that the airbags did'nt deploy.

Well, that's reassuring.

Back in the late 80s my buddy, myself and another friend hit a big cow one night in his 455 Trans Am and that car split into 3 pieces... Front clip went off the road and tumbled along the ditch, the engine, and transmission wound up sitting close to a part of the cow while the passenger compartment and rear-end spun around.and slid off the other side of the road... None of us had seat belts on that night, and all 3 of us walked/limped away without a single broken bone... I still slow way down in that area to this day even though there's no cattle or farms out that way anymore...

Dad hit a big old sow pig one night as he was meeting a truck, so could not see much
1953, he had just traded his 1951 Buick , the pig went under the car and wiped every thing out on the bottom side, and Dad never drove fast.
He said it was like a wall.
I have never hit anything, but a fellow was killed on his bike at night coming back from the Sturges show when a deer ran out in front of him.

A fellow hit a small deer with his Ram, and that ran about $12,000 I heard 2015 I think it was.

I bounced over a skunk one night on the Honda, that was not fun, no one would ride with me for quite a while. Wimps. I think I must have got the full shot.

Put one thru the combine before cabs, Dad took over the truck driving for some reason.
