Hello, i'm new here and not entirely sure I am posting this in the correct location. So if I'm out of place, please let me know.
I am purchasing a 2005 Ram 2500 Hemi 4X4. The truck has had one catalytic converter stolen and one of the exhaust manifolds is cracked. So my first course of action is to make the necessary exhaust repairs. In doing so I would like to replace stock manifolds with headers. I would prefer long tubes but would be plenty satisfied with shorty's if necessary. My problem is I can find LOTS of stuff for 2WD 1500's and some other for 2500 2WDs and also some 1500 4WD's, but nothing so far for the 2500 4WD Hemi.
Does anyone know of headers to fit this truck or maybe even what the differences would be between a 1500 4X4 and a 2500 4X4. Minor modifications i can handle, such as cutting the Y pies, rewelding, etc. I cant cut and rework the headers around Differentials, steering shafts, etc. If nothing is made exactly for this truck(within reason) is there anything made for a slightly different unit that I can modify to make work on this unit (say made for a 1500 4x4 that I can rework fairly easily to fit this 2500 4x4)?

First off, welcome to RamForum!!

Now the bad part. Ive looked into this and have spoken to a number of high performance mechanics about LT headers and, unfortunately, there really arent any for the 2500 4x4. I would assume it is because of the solid front axle and/or the suspension components related to it. The only LTs i saw that could fit were somewhere north of $3k by, i believe, American Racing (could very much so be mistaken).
Other side of the coin is that there are a plethora of shorties that fit and do very well for these trucks. I plan on doing JBA short tubes when i rebuild my engine within the next year.

Side note. I wouldnt get a set of long tubes for a 1500 and then modify for the 2500. The pipes are set up in a way that they are effectively tuned for different exhaust pressures and screwing with that is probably worse than shorties.
Hope this helps!
