yeah I realized after removing mine recently you could certainly get away without taking it off!

Did you upgrade to projectors? I have a 15 w halogen and would like either oem or aftermarket projectors.

Given his grill and Park Sense sensors in the front bumper I'm betting he has a Laramie - so they are factory for him.

If your intent is to go to factory projectors to put HID's in them I would tell you to just get a retro fit from JJ. the stock projectos suck with HID's the only benifit is the LED strip. You could get OE projectors with retro fits and a harness but thats a lot of cash

I just like the extra space to work. Plus removing the grill is cake. 4 screws.

Yeah, I guess if you use a super long extension you wouldn't have to take the grill off.

What I have trouble with is the ******** tabs in the rear. Need a arm made of rubber to release them.

I have the stock projectors. I just wanted to see what bulbs were in there factory. I might try some Sylvania zxe bulbs, I have em in my burb and love em.

Hid's are really bright in the factory projectors, i would like a set but not putting up with the problems associated with them so i just bought putco ion spark white bulbs for my lows and highs to match my opt7 led fog lights

After fighting with the first one, the second one was quite easy. Found that the ball and socket had corroded making pulling it out very difficult. After a light spray of white grease on both ball and socket, then reinstalled. Tried it a second time and came out easily. The grease definitely helped. Having a huge grill guard and now having an aux. spare tire mount on the front, removing my grill would be really tough.

Stock projector halogens are 9012 you will not find them in any aftermarket flavor or color as they are HIR's.. however you can modify a 9006. This is what people use for HID size on projector housings.

But be aware a 9006 halogen is not as bright as a HIR 9012. Unless you get an overpowered 9006.

Are you talking about the white tab that holds the light in the back of the housing?

Because if you don't remove the grill when you start to screw the bottoms in you screw up your headlight adjustment which drives me nuts if they're not even.

The 2016 low beam is a 9005sl+, 1860 lumens with a 1000hr bulb life or some crazy life like that, and it's a 9005 base. 9005's are commonly rated at 1700 lumens, so one could use them but with a short life, say 100-300 hours. Now if we were to put a hir1 in there, we're up to 2350 lumens but again no color changes available.
