Winter and cold in Western Canada!
Heat level problems.
When I start the truck and turn the level of heat up, only cold. After a while, 4 or5 minutes, I hear a door either open or close, then I start getting some heat. It take a while to get heat out of a 2004 cummins.
I can not control the heat level, either.
All other functions work fine.
Which actuator, controls the heat level?
Thanks from Banff, Alberta.

Wally , I have the same problem.
2007 Ram 2500 5.7 Hemi.
New heater core , new 206° thermostat.
I can see linkage moving when I change temp setting, but no change in heat.
Let me know if you find a solution.

It could be a number of things unrelated to the actuators, but the image is below. I'd make sure you have all the air out of the system as well. It can be a pain to completely bleed off.

The doors themselves can break on the 3rd gens, so the linkage may move and the door not actually be able to open or close fully.

Thanks, for the info.
All functions, work.
It's just that the heat takes a while before it kicks in.
when I go from no heat on the dial, Rotate it to max heat, you hear a door, slam open. When I shut down the truck for any period of time, it goes back to no heat.
seems like all the doors work, other than the heat?
I'll figure it out, I hope!

When you start your vehicle, it does not matter what you have the HVAC Controls set on.

The Air, usually Cold, goes first to the Defrost Vents to clear the windshield.

I have not timed how long it takes for the Cab Heater to begin producing Heat,
Chances are it is about the same amount of time as it takes the Thermostat to Open

I remote start my Ram, before i put my shoes on.
By the time that i release the E-Brake, move my Power Seat forward, extend my Power Mirrors, fasten my seat belt & drive 3 long country blocks, i start to feel warm air.
Two more blocks & the Ram is warming up & i am pulling onto the 8 lane highway

That's a good point..... mine does the same thing, but it stays on defrost a lot longer in the winter than the summer. I suppose, as with the heated/cooled seats that there is a set temp that the cabin reaches before the computer tells it to switch away from the windshield.

What I did notice both with my Cummins and Hemi trucks... I start feeling heat at ~122 coolant temp on the dash. I have full heat by 160 degrees.

Put a winter front on that thing! It'll help some anyway.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes a winter front, helps!
I think the problem is the actuator that controls the heat or cooling level?
Can I access, it without removing the complete dash?
We will figure this out.
Thanks again

with the 2013 Ram
you can check 4 actuators without pulling the dashboard

2 from removing the lower glove compartment
another 2 after removing the Radio Surround,
watch some YouTube videos for that

In your case ,i would shut off the Recirculation Door, when you start your truck in the morning, that way, no outside Air enters the HVAC unit.
The air in the cab just circulates, heating the cab quicker
