Hello everyone, I just purchased my first Ram this past week. Its a 05 quad cab 4x4 with the 4.7 v8. Has 65,000 miles on it and paid 13,000. Just wondering if theres a way to get better fuel mileage out of it. Ill post pics of it after all this rain stops.

What kind of mileage are you getting now? I have an 05 reg cab 2x4 and with 60/40 highway/city driving I average around 18 mpg. If I am on a steady highway run, and I keep it at 60 which is about 1650 RPM's in OD, I can pull 21-21.5 MPG easy.

Oh and our trucks are pretty similar mileage wise too...mine has just around 54,000 miles.

Most guys on here would tell you a tuner, exhaust, and CAI would be the way to go. But the mpg gains won't be huge at all. The saved money in mpgs won't offset the cost of the mods for several thousand miles. Best bet is to ease off the gas, coast as much as possible before red lights, and don't floor it every chance you get. But then again, where's the fun in that.

Welcome! As stated. A light foot and highway miles are going to be your best bet for getting higher mpgs. The other mods suggested are just fun. :p.
