I have no clue what's going on with my truck. went to leave the garage today and it says to push the clutch down in order to start the engine. Normally says to push down the brake. Everything is coming up on the dash you need serviced, shocks, transmission, engine and the radio is locked out. It won't even do a remote start because it's that it is disabled and to start the vehicle to reset it.

Has anyone had this issue and if so could you tell me what you did to fix it. do I need to take it to the dealer or did I blow a few somewhere or something ??

Most of those electronic faults are usually associated with a failing battery or bad ground. Check all connections to make sure they are clean and free of corrosion. Also load test the battery.

Was this random or were you trying to load a tune?

My 2016 1500 did weird crap like that when the battery was running low.

Like you, I kinda freaked out and anticipated the worst.

New battery and all was better.

Did you press the brake & try to start it like you normally do?

If so, what happened?

Looks like your truck is a 2016 so your probably still on your original battery. I know mine is showing signs of getting weak.

As said, pull it, take it to your local auto parts store and have it load tested. I bet it's on it's way out.

Modern vehicles today are very sensitive to battery voltage when they start to go, lots of wired things can happen. Good luck

Being a 2016 that battery is at least 4 years old so I wouldn't waste time having it tested, just go buy another. That said it's probably older than 4 years and batteries don't need to be used for it to age, they will slowly lose capacity sitting on the shelf or in your truck on the dealers lot before you bought it.

Hi there @RebelYell69
We certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you are not able to determine a solution based on suggestions from fellow forum members and you decide to address this with your Ram dealer, please be sure to follow up with us via private message. We would be more than willing to escalate your situation to a specialist who can work alongside you and your dealer while your truck is in service.

@MADDOG how is this not advertising? Didn't see them in the vendors list either?

I am with most of the others. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and let it sit for a few minutes. Then reconnect and let it to it's thing. You are doing the automotive version of unplugging your computer and then plugging it back in again. While you're at it, check the battery terminals.

If you have a battery tester or multimeter, check to see how many volts the battery is showing. When was the battery last replaced?

What year vehicle is this?

Not necessarily. I have a battery for my lawn tractor that is from 2012 and still works fine. I keep it on a battery tender all the time. While it's true they can and eventually will fail due to age, it's not a guarantee and I have better uses for $100+ dollars than to blow it on a new battery that's not needed or may not the root of the problem.

That is "throwing parts at it" without doing any diagnostic work first. Never a good idea in my opinion.

If you have the extra cash, that's totally fine, to each their own. This is just my opinion.

Good thought checking static battery voltage and also a good idea to check it running as well, however, a battery may have good static voltage, but lack proper amperage. The volts only tell have the story. That's why to truly know you charge the battery, then load test it and see how it reacts after being placed under load.

Had this happen to my 2500 and dealer found a loose connection which fixed the problem. Not sure which connection was loose.

If not a weak battery. Or bad connection. It could also be the brake switch under pedal. If this switch dies, or has bad connections the truck wont start

I echo this thought. But if the brake light comes on when you press the pedal abandon this theory
