How did you get a manual trans in a 1500? Cant find a single 1500 in the usa with a manual

Some of the assumptions were correct, I absolutely cannot stand automatic transmissions. So I had a local speed shop put the 6 speed manual trans in after I bought it with the automatic.

Nice. Mind me asking how much that set you back? I would love a 6sp lol.

What transmission? G56? Who made the tune file for it?

Trans, adapters, modifications and labor ran me $3500.
I'll have to look into that? Which trans did you use?

Mine tows tows almost 38 feet just fine with bags and 10 ply tires. I've done a lot of research into the ratings. All ratings are gauged with the factory crap tires. They aren't rated with any of the real factors that come into play later on such as bags or better tires. If you want to know more about it, find guys who haul for a living or who've been doing it for decades. My truck has done a great job of hauling my TT. The last 2 things I plan to do are install a Helwig anti-sway bar and swap out the 3.21 to a 4.10.

--edit--

An Equalizer hitch makes all the difference with sway as well. Solid bars. No chains. It's like night and day.

See, I can't stand those 'anti-sway and WD all in one' hitches. I'll never buy one, because your anti-sway is DIRECTLY connected to the amount of weight you're trying to distribute. In other words, a heavier trailer will inherently have more resistance to sway than a lighter trailer. It also means that a trailer you pulled with a half-ton with no sway but lots of squat will have less squat but more sway with a 2500 or 3500.

Now, if you go with a standard WD hitch and add the separate sway control bar, you can adjust your sway and your WD independent of each other. Need more WD? Move a link on the chain. Need less? Move a link on the chain. Need more sway control? Tighten the lever. Less? Loosen it.

In engineer-speak, that's called 'decoupling' parts of the system. When your parts are dependent on one another, a small change in one creates a change in another. When they're decoupled or independent, a change in one should have no effect on any other part of the system.

I've towed good sized TT's for many years and never needed sway control. Used both 1500 and 2500 trucks dating back to 1975.

My son has a Husky Centerline TS that is WDH and anti-sway all in one. I towed it with my 2013 1500, son's company 2017 2500 Duramax, and his 2018 Ram 2500 6.4. Towed fine with all 3. No sway at all. The trailer dealer set it up for my 1500 and he towed it that way with the Duramax 2500. He also towed it 200 miles with his 2500 Ram but when he got back home with it we had to adjust the height. It was too high. We lowered it as far as we could. It is almost level. Maybe slightly higher in the front but not much we can do about it at this point. He towed it 1500 miles like that and said it towed perfect.

I tow this with my 2017 1500 4x4 with 3.92’s and I personally wouldn’t want any larger. 3750 dry, just under 24’ and around 400 lbs tongue weight. Tows like a dream. You need a bigger truck or a smaller trailer

I rented this Jayco Jay Flight SLX 264BH.this summer. My 16 Ram 1500 5.7L with 3.21s tow'd it well. The TT was around 28ft. Half the time never knew it was back there. WDH worked well. Having tow mirrors would've been nice. But made do. Pulling thru the Black Hills of SD, was enjoyable, longer distances I may have had a different opinion. I normally pull an United 6x14 enclosed Vfront. But it's under 3k lbs.

I'd do it. You can easily go 20% over what the weight limit on your sticker says. They always leave some margin of error.

Just kidding, dont do it. The trailer size is going to pickup a lot of wind causing sway and it's pretty scary. No amount of hellwig, airbags, LT tires are going to make it legal. You need a heavier truck.

I'd try and look for something that is no longer than 25 or 26ft and under 6000lbs dry. Even that, you may have to get some upgrades. I have a 21ft bunkhouse 1slide (4000lb dry) and t tows beautifully. No white knuckling here.
