I like the 2014-2017 Ram 2500 generation. Which transmission should I NOT buy when dealing with these specific model years? I hear so much about Ram truck transmissions. I will be towing a 27ft camper.
Thanks

Are you buying a diesel or a gasser? and how often are you towing with it?

There is only 2 transmissions. One for the Cummins and one for the HEMI. (There ia still a manual for the Cummins also.

There is nothing wrong with the transmissions. At stock power they will perform well.

A 27 foot camper will be a breeze for these years.

My suggestion is to to skip the 5.7 l Hemi and only look at the 6.4l HEMI. If you are looking Cummins then it is mute.

Goos luck. Find one with the trailer brake and tow mirrors. They will make life easier.

After that it is personal preference.

But I sure like a Bare bones Tradesman for doing work and they will keep the budget low.

But go for what trim you want.

Do not fret the transmissions. I have owned Dodge and RAM trucks for 30 plus years and never once had an issue.

I currently own n a 20 ram hdho w/ aisin and love it. Before this truck, my trade was a16 ram 2500 6.7 with the rfe and we hauled a 13k fiver and I never once had a problem. I miss the fuel millage I used to get with that truck, it was 2.5x the mileage on this hog.
