12 is 6 speed. I went with a mopar filter kit. Summit has a Mopar kit that is just in a different box same thing and then I used Red line D4-ATF. I also just added Lubeguard shutter guard and man it shifts like a dream.

For any rfe transmission, less then 8 gear rams, read this thread.

Get one of those filters and knock paint off, and a metal thread upgrade, that filter will last ten times longer the oem canister filter. Now, the sump filter, the odd shaped one, those are already synthetic media and will also last a long long time. So if you do this filter upgrade, all you need to do from time to time is flush the fluid once in a while. Use high temp gasket maker for seal. Besides fluid at4, you need 4 items, metal thread, canister filter, sump filter and gasket maker. For fluid redline c+ is a nice upgrade for rfe as well, but any at4 will work.

c+ is the appropriate fluid for rfe, d4 is for manual transmissions, this is what redline paper is on d4. It may work fine, but then again c+ is formulated for automatic transmissions and is the at4 replacement.

  • Appropriate coefficient of friction for most manual transmission synchronizers (other's synthetic gear oils are often too slippery for proper synchro engagement)

I had to look it up, I thought Corey had a choice between 6 speed or 8 speed in 2012, but I forget.

When I did my order at summit that is what it called for in terms of automatic transmission fluid. Its been in it now 2k miles and no issues what so ever. It honestly shifts smoother then it did with the mopar fluid.

I'd trust what redline says more then summit, redline lists c+ as the replacement for atf 4. Confusing for sure. This is what redline says about c+ which was made for one auto manufacturer only Chrysler, sou see one outliar, but mainly c+ was made for ram/dodge.

C+ATF - QUART

  • Satisfies Chrysler ATF+, +2, +3 (Type 7176) and ATF+4 (Type 9602) requirements
  • Provides 30% greater operating viscosity and 1/3 the evaporation of Chrysler-style petroleum ATFs
Suitable Replacement for:

Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep ATF+4
Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep ATF+3
Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep ATF+2
Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep ATF+
Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Type 7176
Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Type 7176E
Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Type 9602
Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep 05013457AA
Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep O5013458AA
Mitsubishi Diamond SP

This metal thread fits tighter and better then the fancy billet ones.

If you want Mopar OEM:

Copy & past numbers over to Rockauto
Filter Package Transmission:5179267AD

Sump Filter Kit Transmission:5013470AE

Transmission Fluid:68218057AC

If nothing else I would upgrade that plastic threaded oil filter adapter for the steel transmission filter adapter that @Burla linked, they are prone to crack & would destroy transmission.
Redline C+ is a better fluid also.

Best RFE transmission gasket is Lubelocker LLT-CRFE (no sealant/RTV needed)

read all info posted, it is for your transmission. It is much easier to drop and service your transmission then the 8 speed, by magnitudes.
