Help!!! Truck shut off on highway

2017 Ram 1500. 5.7litre. 67,000 miles. changed plugs at 60,000 miles

driving down highway Felt a vibration fairly well ,check engine light turned on began flashing and beeping and truck shut off doin 75 mph. Pulled over truck would not start again . turned over but would not fire.

Got a look at gauges before it shut down, oil pressure was good ,volts were good, engine and oil temp were good, and oil was full.

Pulled the code. P0301 cylinder 1 misfire..

Pulled coil and plugs ,plugs looked fine, replaced coil and problem not fixed


Anyone else have this issue at one point or another.???

Bad fuel injector maybe and I am assuming you have fuel pressure at the rail.

Bad gas or bad injector.

flashing CEL means shut it off before serious engine damage occurs.

it shut itself off for me. i have a feeling motor blew.

this way past cleaning throttle body. i just installed the ported throttle body maybe 4 -5 weeks ago.

Just maybe the new TB is the cause......especially if it is a true bore or you pushed butterfly open manually.....maybe put original back on unless you had same issue prior.
Check electrical connection & seal also.

A fuel injector that is stuck open or slow to close will cause a misfire

never had no issues prior to this, ive put prob 2500 miles on it since ported tb was installed with no issues . i will try to change it out. it wont even idle, it barely fires and then stalls out

Check cyl number 3 again on the plugs and coil.

But like others mention check for vacuum leaks all around the intake manifold, throttle body and fuel injectors.

4 possibilities here:
No spark (probably not)
No fuel (make sure the injectors are spraying fuel)
Major vacuum leak (reason why it stalls out)
Lastly ( ate the cam )

Depending how long you felt the vibration it can be the lastly. It is right on the window we see these 70k to 130k miles. Run codes again if you cleared it.

vibration was prob 30 seconds then engine shut down

Found the culprit cylinder one broken valve spring..

Does anyone know how to change it without removing the head?

A broken valve spring on a 2017 w/67k I would be at the dealership for warranty work. It seems way to early in milage. Is it original motor parts? I would do a full teardown of both sides if it were me, I think some other parts maybe suspect as well. Does this truck like to get sideways....lol
