I need some help with specialists... Do not want grimy answers to just change it. Okay got that out of the way here goes.. i have a 96 Dodge ram 2wd with a 46re, I bought a transmission from another 96 Dodge ram that was wrecked, and it bolted up fine... But it turns out the transmission is a 46rh considering it has 3 pin connector... I plan to get the converge kit that will run the tcc and over drive solenoids so no big deal there it's nothing major. But my issue is over drive section does not have the vss whole... I cannot figure out why or wat this od is from since everything I look up says they have the vss... My next question will be will a 46re od section bolt onto the 46rh. I no I read people saying one is longer than the other but this one is not i already measured it. It is the exact same leigth as my old one... Any info on the swap? And info on what this unit is from because it's obviously not factory to that 46rh

The V/B and O/D units as a set determine whether it is a 46RH (hydraulic governor) or an RE (electronic governor). The 46RH has a mechanical governor in the O/D unit with tubes to the V/B to supply governor pressure for shifts. The 46RE units use a transducer and solenoid in the V/B along with input from a VSS to establish governor pressure. For this reason you can't simply bolt a RE O/D unit onto a RH main case - even if it would physically work the O/D wouldn't.

Never seen a 2WD tail with no VSS or speedo hole. That vehicle must read speed from the rear ABS sensor.
