Ok im new to the ram community so bare with me I usually have hondas. My question is if my speed sensor is out or something else? My speedometer does not kick in until I hit about 50mph. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 98 1500 4x4 5.9.

Ok my cel gives p500 code. I bought the speed sensor from autozone where is this thing located. The sensor on the rear differential is way different. There is nothing on the transfer case. Nothing on the passenger side of the tranny like the dodge dealer said where it would be. There are 3 sensors on the driver side of the tranny but none of these look like what I bought. The part number I got from autozone is SU394. My truck is a 98 1500 4x4 5.9. Help someone has to be able to help me with this.

I replaced the one in the rear axle part # SU8172. It's actually listed as the rear ABS sensor. I was having the same problem, speedo wasn't kicking in until 30mph and ABS light and brake light were on. When I pulled the codes for mine it said the rear sensor was bad (that was with a Snap-on scanner), not sure what you used to get your code.

Do you have a haynes manual or something similar? I would hope that it would be shown in there.
