In preparation for my install next Thursday's (which I am completely obsessing about) I have a couple questions. First is my truck is a 2012 2500 with the max load light load button. I'm putting on 35/12.5/20 toyo RT's. Toyo reccomends 41psi for these tires for everyday use. Do u guys know if my truck will throw a light at 41? If it does is there a way to clear it?

Also I have read a lot in the forums about reprogramming the speedo. I thought I would just be able to go to the dealer to do this. Am I wrong? How are u guya getting the speedo right?

Anything else I'm not thinking of in preparation of my new install?

So above I asked a variance of questions. Since I didn't get a reply I went hunting for answers and I don't like any of them. I called the dealer and asked if they would reprogram my speedo no bare in mind they have a 2016 ram 2500 Laramie same as mine except mine is a 12 that they installed 35's on they are selling. I asked can you reprogram my speedo? He said we will charge u 50 dollars which is 30 minutes work and may or may not be able to program. I said so u guys sell trucks with bigger tires that don't have the right speedo calibration. He then emplied my truck is very old and they can't guarantee they can reprogram it. he then went on to tell me if it doesn't work I will need to install a tuner on my truck to reprogram it. I then said so I just paid 2700 for an extended warrantee and u are telling me to void my warrantee with a tuner? He said nothing and wouldn't say another word. We just both hung up. So what the heck am I gonna do? I have read people say if I don't have the speedo right it can mess up my tranny. I can't get a tuner and keep my warrantee. The shop that's doing the work said they can't do it. Now what? Like a moron I already paid for the tires lift and rims so I'm pretty stuck. Any help would be Appreciated l..

Not sure where you read that not calibrating your speedo is hard on your tranny. Going to larger tires without also changing axle ratios is harder on your tranny, but not the speedo calibration. The speedo will read x% slower than you are actually moving, and because you have driven x% more miles than the odometer says, you've extended your warranty... oh wait you have an extended warranty anyway :).

As an alternative, most stand alone GPS units will provide an actual speed display, some display the speed limit also.

I'm not sure about your year, in the past the dealer just selects a tire factor associated with the tire. If your tire size has a larger diameter than any of the OEM option, the dealer won't be able to get it exact. A tuner may, but you could also get ABS errors in some years.

Life is full of compromise.

The dealer cannot program it for the larger tires. Download a speedometer app on your phone so you know how far your speedo is off if you do not want to get a tuner. Not a big deal.

Changing axel ratios? They sell the same tires and wheels with 3 different ratios so I'm confused there. I have gps factory in my truck that has the speed as well as the speed limit. I'm actually a little shocked people just have there speedo's off (No ****) and are ok with that. I think it will drive me bat poo crazy.

I am starting to feel I'm not the right guy for all this tires and wheels and lifts. Man I want it but now I have to worry about rear ends and trannys etc. I don't know if I will ever read enough to learn what I need to. When I think I have a handle on it Somthing else comes up.readinf about my tranny I may or may not have trouble due to the bigger tires. Hahaha. Damn man. What's a guy to do when he just wants 3.5" bigger than stock. I already paid for the damn equipment with no refunds.

Haha just have it installed and enjoy it. You don't need to worry about the trans or the rear end. You are over thinking it a little bit. A lot of people will change the gear ratio when adding larger tires to regain performance and ease load on the transmission. If you have a 6.7, you don't really need to worry about that.

The mph reading displayed by the factory radio is taken from the same sensor as the speedo and will be off just as much. Stand alone units derive mph from the satellite signal. Just saying if you are **** about speedometer accuracy, there is an alternative to reprograming the RAM's computer.

Tons of folks throw larger tires on without issue, perhaps you are overthinking. Are you towing or hauling heavy routinely? If not I wouldn't worry about anything short of tire rub which you already covered..

I tow sometimes but not on a regular basis. But I still wanna be able to tow if I want too. I was reading what options my truck has from the window sticker and it had 4.10 gears and limited slip axel. I think the gears will help it not suck for towing. I had a 06 with 35's and 2.5 level and the speedo was correct. I bought it from the dealer before this one came to town. I never had an issue with that truck. Was awesome actually and it had 3.73's. I think my problem is over thinking as well. I read something then get scared. I really love my truck and want nothing to happen to it. I am leaning torwards just getting the hypertech speedo calibration machine. If Chrysler try's to void my warranty I'll just cancel it and get my 2700 back. But I have to imagine if I don't get s tuner just the speedo tuner they won't do anything. How can I post multiple picks with my iPhone? I wanted to show my window sticker.

Also since I am having a 4x4 shop do all the work they are making sure if any trimming or rubbing happens they will fix it before I take possession.

So I have been trying to see what I can do about my speedo and my tpms system. I called my warranty company which is a factory extended one to see if I can just install a hypertech speedo calibrator and they said that would be fine not problems with my warranty there. But when I said i am putting in a bds 3" lift my entire warranty will be voided. Wtf my entire warranty? Has anyone actually been denied like a radio issue due to a lift? Mostly worried about like a tranny going out and then not covering it. I went to the dealer and they said they would honor my warrantee on everything except on what I changed. But if my motor went out or tranny and Chrysler had to come to look at it I may have problems but most likely not. Anyone had this issue? Ever been denied for a claim? Anyone had a motor or tranny go out due to a lift? Lol. I thought a level was worse for your truck than a lift. I'm so confused man.

I went the the 4x4 shop and got my first glimps of my mods going in. Here is a picture of my tires

It all depends on what's more important to you. the warranty or the lift and big tires. If your warranty holder says they won't respect your warranty if you do certain things to the truck then it's game over if warranty is more important to you.

Not much you can do about it regardless of whether it will hurt anything on your truck or not. I wanted bigger tires as well but my dealer said they would not allow it and warranty would be void so I'm not getting taller tires until warranty is up. That's the end of it.

To be honest this is all the kind of stuff you should look into before buying anything. But we've all made this mistake before including me.

Negativity and finger pointing isn't really needed. Do u wait in the forums just so u can not really add any real Advise but instead tell people how dumb they are? Kudos.

Chrysler and there dealerships can't void warranty for tires. Who cares what they said. what is the truth? And chrysler will tell You strait up tires are fine. So either u need a new dealer or u made that up to just Harass me.

I'm looking for what's true. Soooo jog on.

Sorry to upset you you asked a question and I gave you my opinion. maybe I should've said it was my opinion. I'm not trying to make anybody upset cause any trouble for someone. Just telling you what I've learned. Yes that may be different from what somebody else learns or what somebody else's experiences are but that's been my experience with my dealer.

I apologize for Sharing

My dealer literally worded things that way I asked them about getting wider and taller tires and possibly doing a lift in the future. I just didn't want to argue with them right now. I'm sure there are plenty of ways to get around my problem with the dealer.... As well as yours but I don't have any experience with that.

I can appreciate your opinion. We all have one. I also need to ask myself what's more important. However Chrysler has a certain obligation to make right according to there warranty. When I asked where does it say a suspension lift voids the warranty he took me to one spot in my contract that reads "vehicles altered or converted from the original manufacturers specifications". Now this contract is 16 pages long. This is the only line he could point me to hahaha. So I asked what's about when I buy heavy duty brake shoes better than original specs. He said they would look the other way. Hahaha. Same with tires same with level kits.

When I talked to my dealer they said I must have talked to a crusty old man that is 1 year out of retirement. So my question remains. Has anyone actually had a claim denied due to a lift.

To be honest this is all the kind of stuff you should look into before buying anything.

This is the quote that probably set me off thos most. When it comes to this kinda thing I'm actually a bit obsessive about it.

I will tell u when it comes to a 2012 ram 2500 mega cab I will probably know more than most about fit, warranty, etc. when it comes to knowing everything tho how could I know what questions to ask until I know there is an issue? When I think I have everything covered up comes another problem. When I was originally looking for tires and rims I wanted to use the local tires shop. They new my situation including my warranty. However they still tried selling me a lift kit. So one would think of the dealer was selling me a lift my warranty would be intact. If it weren't for the fact that they didn't know what offset I needed and were actually backward on how offset works I would have used them. I am not gonna lie I learned a bunch. Too much that I will just forget in a week. Btw my dealer said hey don't care if I install a programmer either. Just tell them when I arrive that it's installed. Queation still remains has anyone had a warranty claim denied?

Were you quoted me is just me speaking from experiance.

I would be very interested in hearing if anyone actually got denied. I do remember one member had a lot of trouble with a recall fix because he had a level kit. They were unrelated. It had somthing to do with a sway bar link that attaches the sway bar to the frame.
