Hello all,

Due to the dismal parts quality these days, I'm looking for alternatives to repair starters on Hemi powered trucks.

Historically the starters on FCA vehicles were made by NipponDenso, and were very good quality. The only things that seemed to wear were the contacts/contact plunger. Now, I've been noticing the newer FCA vehicles are equipped with Mitsubishi starters.

Where would one find parts for these newer Mitsu starters?

I absolutely hate the thought of throwing a factory starter in the scrap bin, and replacing it with a Chinese parts store unit. Out of necessity, we have to do this on customer vehicles, but I'd like to find an alternative.

Thanks in advance!

Mitsubishi starters are suppose to be a high quality. I know where i work they have a 3 year warranty. Rebuilding these is a thing of the past by the time you put shop labour into in your just about at the price of a new starter, and are you going to warranty the starter and labour if it fails for some other reason next month? All the auto parts stores around me still sell the good quality starters and not the cheap chinese ones.

The Mitsu starters are only available from the dealer around here. That’s what I’ve been using, despite their outrageous cost.
The parts store ones I won’t put in anymore. Too many comebacks I have to warranty. Sure they give you a new one again, but they don’t pay labour, so I end up having to eat that.

Every repair I do is warrantied. We in frame many highway truck engines over the course of the year. If I warranty that, I’m pretty sure I’ll stand behind a starter contact replacement.
