So i developed the hemi tick on my 2015 ram 2500 6.4l recently, currently no codes, im planning to replace all the lifters and the camshaft but my mechanic doesnt think we need to do the camshaft too. will he be able to tell if it needs to be done once the lifters are out or does it have to be removed to see if it has been damaged? my understanding is you wont know anything without removing it and if your in there already you should probably just do it.

If no misfire code, dont do nada, try a lubrication strategy. I lost count on how many people change lifters/cam only to still have hemi tick, despite guys on this board saying dont do it. Did you rule out exhaust bolts? hemi tick is 49/49 cam-lifters/exhaust. It can be valves or injectors on occasion. Upload a youtube taken from underneath a warm engine idle if you want some feedback. how long has it been ticking, how many miles on truck?
