Out of curiosity, if it is the cats, what options do I have? I'm looking to keep it more budget friendly if at all possible. Also, if it sounds better, I wouldn't complain... those two may be mutually exclusive though

Alright. You don't happen to know if there is any budget way to both replace the cats and make it sound better?

I did an oil change (switched to a thicker one- high mileage synthetic blend 10w40 hoping that would help), and it did not seem to help.

I'm starting to wonder if there's 2 sounds. 1 being an exhaust leak, and 1 being the higher pitched more rapid ticking. I really wish these would just go away lol.

There's a YouTube channel that does a lot of exhaust videos, and I happen to live not all too far away from them. I may run over there sometime and see what they have to say about this whole thing.

DUDE, i mean no disrespect by this however....... why would you just ignore a catalytic converter code? That is a major part of the engine operating system that should never be ignored especially if a red flag like a CEL for it is lighting up. How much did you pay for the truck? If it was my purchase i would have listed all the codes that were lit up.... make an offer accordingly and than start replacing the items that are bad at that point. My truck has 265,000 miles on it and it runs like a sewing machine. I use all Mopar replacement parts and oil changes are done with Redline Synthetic due to high MOLY / ZINC content a Wix filter and Lubegard Biotech treatment which adds more moly / zinc to the mix.
