I recently installed the DDM Plus 9006, 35w, 5500k HID kit. Installation was a breeze and the light output is excellent. However, the left bulb is dimmer than the right bulb. The difference is more noticeable in person than in the pictures. I made sure that the bulbs were installed with the return wire facing down. Also the left bulb, pictured below, has a crystallization cloud which I have read mixed things about, some say it is normal and others say it is an issue with the bulb and it should be replaced. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the right bulb to see if that is cloudy as well.

Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think. Am I being too picky, is there an issue with the bulb, an issue with installation?

Thanks

tell ddm that you want reaplcement bulbs or send it back. This is the kind of crap that keeps me from buying these aftermarket hid upgrades. I was hoping the ddm stuff with the easier plug and play canbus modules would work on the 2015+ trucks flawlessly, but it seems hit or miss.

The DDM kit works with the error eliminator and the canbus module, no doubt about that. But there definitely is a bulb quality control issue. Even with the bulb "defect" I am still satisfied with the light output, huge improvement over stock.

I would still recommend this kit, for $90 and the hour it takes to install you really can't go wrong, and if there is a problem it is just as easy to go back to stock and return the kit.

Thats DDM for you. Thats why I stopped buying their HID's they used to be so cheap I didnt care if they screwed up id get new ones. But when you buy 3 sets and they are never the same color or brightness its time to move to a different brand with better quality control. I ended up going with Opt7 this time around. they have a waranty, they are sold in the USA and they have a strict quality control process. They are also built 100 times better than DDM junk. I dont get clouding with these either. My DDM bulbs would cloud on the first power up - again junk. Spend the extra cash and get Opt7 or Morimoto's

Ditto, I used to buy DDM's all the time when the whole kit was $30 bucks and bulbs were being sold for $15, but these days, not worth paying twice for the same quality.

Well DDM offered to send a replacement bulb. Hopefully there will be some consistency.

good to know. I looked into it a bit more... and seems like those with 15'+ trucks are saying the ddm stuff is ok. I was looking at their stuff bc of the small simple plug and play ( canbus / eliminator ), rather than the others out there with those rediculously large relays and harnesses that need to be used.

I just feel if i buy it, i'll be the one with a non functional kit ( flickering, light out message or some **** ) lol. Actually, the more i loooked, those with some issues seem to have gone the route of hid highs and fogs too. Seems if you just do the lows, the system works as its advertised.

As for the bulb, glad they are sending you a replacement.

I wish they offered the kit in 55W's. I ran that on the 1500 and prefer my lights annoyingly bright. ;)
