I’ve searched and couldn’t find a concrete answer on google or here, so figured I would pose the question.

my ballast on my Morimoto went out last week (3rd one in 2 years). I yanked the full system out (including g harness) and put a set of silverstar ultras in my projectors. They suck, but we’re available locally in a pinch.

I’m planning on buying the Headlight Revolution GTR Gen 5 canbus HID system and not reinstalling my harness again. I want to get the 55w kit. I know you lose some color temp going from 35w to 55w, and advertised color temps are based on 55w. Does anyone know what color temp a 5000k bulb will be when run with a 55w ballast? I’ve heard everything from 4000k - 5000k. I doubt it’s that low and I know it won’t be that high. Anyone have the answer can help me decide? Thanks in advance.

It will vary from bulb to bulb and brand to brand. From what I've heard if a 35w kit is 6000k and you add a 55w ballast you go down to about a 5500k. So basically you drop down a color temp. Their is no definite answer to exact color change because as I stated before color temp varies from brand to brand and bulb to bulb.

I would check with GTR, but if you are buying their 55w kit, then I would assume that is coming with a set of 55w bulbs and the color temp won't change.

I have the 55w gtr 6000k and they are the equivalent of a 35w 5500k.
They match LED colour nicely6C37BEF0-E3BF-42EF-A83A-513F507903A7.jpeg
I will also mention I’ve had a couple ballasts go out in the first 8 months but they’ve been good at replacing them.

Thanks for the info. So it seems the 5000k will be similar to 4300k OeM, just brighter. Sounds perfect. The ones I’ve been using were 5500k and had too much blue for my liking.

What 55w kit are you using?
It's not a kit, it's components from DDM.
4 ea, Projectors, Tuning H1 V3 with Mini H1 Shrouds - # Proj-H1-V3-PR-MiniGG
and
4 ea, 55W Ballasts, Ultra H1, 4500K Bulbs - # 2ea DDM Kits

Edit:
Should mention it's 4 ea because we are running all 4 with Bi-Xenon Projector lights on, not just 2 on low or 2 on high. As you probably know, the projectors are always on low until you hit high beams then the gate moves and you have full bulb output as high beams

I put that very set in my Laramie with 5000k lamps anything higher will give a stupid blue tint. Also 55 watt ballast, have not had any problems with the can bus system or with the messages or the lights themselves. Also put 35 watt ballast on the fog lights and 5,000k lamps bright white the street is well seen while driving.

50w Morimoto ballasts and XB50 50w 5800k bulbs.

They look white to me. The only blue I see is at the top of the cut offs.ac1e6e9094e3473a1086c85c95dc86e5.jpg3393c8f24d98a23978b605b8c3f516eb.jpg
