One of my neighbors used to leave his trailer hitch in and where he parked it hung into the sidewalk. I mentioned ito him about removing it or pull further forward before someone hurt themselves. A week later his kid caught the hitch while riding his bicycle, he had some bad road rash and his wrist in a cast.

I used to leave my hitch insert in all the time until I went to trade in my 2007 Ram. It had a 2 5/16" ball on a solid steel insert and it was stuck in there.
I had draw bar stuck in a previous vehicle I bought used, luckily it was a hollow one. Took me a while to saw through from the inside to collapse the old draw bar out.

Google it. Backing into a parking space is safer than pulling in.
I concur! I was in an advanced driver course and the instructor preached about the good things of backing in. For one, upon arrival to a location you can see what’s there and safely back in. Two: when you leave your pulling forward and have a better view of what’s there. Backing out of a parking stall can be treacherous, especially if the guy driving behind you doesn’t see you pulling out and you happen to be looking the other way.

I find parking out an extra hundred feet where the big trucks and people more conscious of door dings are. I can pull through with empty spaces on either side and get some well needed exercise. Have tow ball but never towed anything other than a chipper a couple times.

Beets are healthier than hot dogs, doesnt mean i have to like it.

You are still annoying others, blocking traffic. Also provides a flase sense of safety resulting in assholes pulling out at full speed.

I will agree there is a right time and place for it.

What? You either have to wait when I back in or wait when I back out. And you'll probably wait longer on me backing out since I take it slow in case someone comes flying down the aisle. And I don't really care if I'm hurting people's feelings by doing something the way I like it.

I prefer to run with my hitch installed. Helps protect the rear of the truck when a texting prius owner hits me.

Yeah, but there have been lawsuits, and the hitch guy in the truck didn't win. Food for thought. Many states also have laws requiring the removal of a hitch if not in use. Plus the required bumper law that is at the federal level. One of those "it sounds nice" kind of things, but lawyers have ruined it. :(

Also, keep in mind if they hit your bumper it's made to give and not damage the truck in some situations. Where hitting the hitch will cause damage to your frame every time.

Yes here in Ontario Canada we also have a law that started nothing is supposed to stick out pass your bumper. Amd people get tickets tone to time. Bit more people drive around wit a hitch all stuck out of there trucks. I personally remove the hitch every time
This is false, a trailer hitch is not included. You cannot be legally fined for a hitch left in here in Ontario.

I hate back in parkers. Youre not cool, you're not a super hero and not a get away driver.

This just made me realize how worse it is with a truck.
Well it's the best and safest way to park a vehicle, especially atruck.
Better hope you never have to visit a mine site, or any major construction site, backing in is a safety requirement.

Ok, how does it block traffic? How is it false sense of secutity? Nobody pulls out any faster, you look both ways and go.
You pull up past aspace, and back in perfectly, pulling out, even in a tight lot, you don't need to have the front swing over near vehicles beside you to turn sharp to pull out.
If you drive in, especially in a tight lot, almost guaranteed to not be perfectly straight, you have to put the corner of your vehicle extremely close to the car nectar to you too get in the spot, then pulling out, again close to cars next to you too swing the front out when turning, not to mention you are backing out blind with a view point more foward in the space meaning of the is a larger vehicle next to you or even near you, you are much later seeing people walking behind it, increasing the chance of hitting them.

Seems like there is only one person annoyed by people backing in, most likely because that person lacks the skill to do it himself maybe.

There are many things that annoy all of us. One of mine are the people that park, get out, and hit the FOB setting off the horn. The horn function can be turned off on all vehicles now. Its BS to be in a parking lot with multiple horns honking. Another major annoyance are those who pump gas and walk away. In the store buying treats, peeing, and BS'ing for 15 minutes while people are waiting for pumps. I have other complaints but I hope you get the point.
I agree with the gas pump one, i usually pull up to the store afterwards, but many places have signs stating not to move your vehicle until your gas is paid for, mind you, i still pull up, sign or no sign just to be courteous to others at the pumps.
Not all places require you to pay before pumping gas like alot of states do. If that's the case, there is absolutely zero reason to leave vehicle at the pump and go in.

My ram 2500 doesn’t fit well in many places and I find it’s much easier to back into a tight spot than pull in because of the mirrors and a back up camera depending on the situation. Definitely not a super hero just a guy looking to have an easier time parking.

Hitch on when towing, hitch off when not towing that’s just me.

Also something to remember is that if you back out of a parking spot and someone runs into you, you will probably be blamed for the accident and your insurance will be paying the damages ! Not to mention the ticket you might be getting too !

Well aren't you a bundle of fun. And full of it. I don't lever my hitch in, if you park on the street it can get you a ticket and gets in the way of the jaywalkers, Driving down the street with it in, Nor a problem. And who pulls out of a parking spot at full speed?

I don't know , Could be city code, have not checked, But I do know a couple guys got tickets in town for parking on the street with there hitches stickling out.. Mall parking lot is not city , so the ticket guy don't check them. This was a few yrs ago, I see lots still, Around here , usually cow trailers, so 3/4, 1 ton, I try not to park behind them. Backing in with camera is a treat compared to the old days.
this is in Sask, Canada

Driving a Ram 3500 Fully pulling if I into spot is pretty tough. I’m in my 7th truck and I always back into parking places. So, add me to your “hated”list. Pleople need to be more aware of their surrounding. Not that I haven’t walked into one a time or two

PA passed a law a few years ago about leaving hitches in. Haven't heard of anyone being cited for it but I guess if someone rear ends you and they determine an injury was caused by a sudden jolt from the hitch rather than a 'crumple zone' of a bumper, or maybe a motorcycle rider? I guess you could be fined then.

Yes same in Ontario. I dind more research. I only know the hyway traffic accident. Bit in the courts a man that rear ended a truck with a hitch sued the guy he rear ended that his hitch did more damage to his vehicle that if he just hit the bumper. And he won. The court stated agreed if he only rear ended the truck with out a hitch and he he was able to recovery a undisclosed about from the truck owner
