Driving a dually, backing in is the best way to go to avoid door dings from careless kids (& adults) from swinging the car door into my bedside.
Besides that, I usually back in over a curb so less of the truck (CCLB) is sticking out.
Sidenote: if you're walking so close to my truck that you hit my hitch then you were too dam close anyways. Backoff!
In your case, you’re better off taking up 2 spaces (front to rear), that’s a lot of truck.
