Yep. I leave my hitch in all the time too. I use a gooseneck 100% of the time. But have the hitch in for several reasons 1. Handy little step to get into bed
2. They hit the hitch before my bumper
3. And I’m going to hell for this..... it’s friggin hilarious when somebody slams their shins into it when they don’t pay attention. “Not quite so funny when I do it” but still funny nonetheless :bleh:

It will protect the back of your truck if someone rear ends you and I 100% agree on the pain it causes when you hit your shin on it. GD it hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty sure leaving your hitch in all the time causes cancer in California

This made me laugh, but I agree it never hurts to leave it in. I have been hit in stop and go traffic and hitched saved me from damage, other car can’t say the same.

Now that everyone agrees that a hitch helps avoid damage and can injure people for laughs, recommendation on brand, type, size, etc.

I use mine for my travel trailer. But too lazy to switch it out when I am done.

When I got my camper it had a old fashioned non-adjustable type WD hitch designed for use on a car...no way to use it on a truck.......trucks are way too high, but it would work well for protecting a bumper.

After all, the camper was made in 1976, back when towing with a car was the norm....

I always keep my 2”hitch in, but lately Ive been leaving my WDH hitch in after returning from camping. That big rusty 2 1/2” ball scares drivers into backing off, lol.

I think you can get hitch mount steps that both protect and avoid the meanness to knees of an exposed hitch.

But then again I’m Canadian and too nice for my own good

How does it feel knowing all Canadians go to heaven? LOL
