This is top shelf thinking. Simple, protects the hitch, helps scrub off departure rocks.

now, is it strong enough near the top to incorporate a shackle mount that wouldn’t interfere with departure angle? That would be the perfect combo.

It will also help push the nose of texting Honda Civic drivers into the ground. ;-)

Looks like a nice project. Does it interfere with Parksense?
hasn't yet. I figured if I put it tight to the bumper it should be fine.

Good question. the gussets are 3/8" thick and the plate is 1/4" and the tube is heavy duty 2.5" 1/4" wall tubing.

Found this on a quick Google search. I may have to get one of these. After I install my AEV rear bumper, I’ll have two recovery points mounted to the frame, a nice hitch skid might not be a bad idea.

I would like to place an order!
Right? I’m seriously considering one of these now. The fact that it goes out just farther than the bumper is brilliant, that way the ledge follows the slider down, and the rear bumper “should” never make contact with the ledge at all.
