So, damn truck chirps every time I arm the alarm. I got a Smart Start system installed and in the status it shows that my trunk is open.

WTF - any way to turn this off? The alarm is a Viper 5701

I'm thinking an open relay somewhere? Perhaps the output for the alarm isn't tied to anything, showing the "open" circuit?

Take it back to whoever installed it and tell em to close the trunk (might be cool if the trunk sensor could be tied to the tailgate? Lol).

well, here's the kick.........

2 years ago I installed the 5701. Worked great for a year. Then when the battery went out it started beeping when I armed it. Eh.....I lived with it. When the range started fading, I got the VSM200 to go on it and set up the smart start stuff.

So, range fixed. Still have the beep / chirp. I asked the guy that did the VSM200 - which was just a plug in to my existing stuff - he said it seemed that a door was open......or a dome light on. But, he turned off that stuff, and it still happened.

The VSM was upgraded yesterday (firmware) to show me more info in the status, and I see trunk open. Just wondering if there is a wire (I assume) on the DBCHALL that I installed 2 years ago.....and maybe I just need to ground it?

I don't know jack about these things........

That's a strange problem. The Viper has a (-) trunk input wire but unless it's grounded, it shouldn't show the trunk as open. This is the blue wire on connector H1 (12 pin connector next to the D2D plug). The CHALL module also has a trunk status output wire, white wire on the main harness. I would try and connect those two together and see if it fixes the problem. If it doesn't work, try grounding the blue wire and see how the alarm responds...
