My wife took my truck in for its oil change. While there the dealer said I should be getting a letter for a recall on the hood. They said when it is in being fixed it needs to sit for 24hrs and they will give me a loaner. Anyone know anything on this recall??

I know there were complaints about the hood surface fluttering at highway speeds. I think the fix is to add bracing underneath.. The 24 hours is probably for any adhesive that needs to cure.

I got a text from my dealer about a safety recall this morning. I checked on my Ram app and nothing shows up.
I haven’t noticed any hood fluttering on my 2500. I’ve had it to 100+ several times.

Is this just for the 2500's ? I just got my tailgate recall done today, less than a week after I had the cruise control and auto park ones done they came out with the tailgate recall. Maybe they need to focus on building these trucks right in the first place.

There was a thread on hood flex at freeway speeds awhile back. I just had to wonder if the flexing would cause the clear coat/paint to craze over time. We'll see if this is what it is all about. The only fix would be a brace plate or an entirely new hood. That would be a classic screw up!

Pretty sure they are just adding bracing under the hood. A lot of stuff today is just put together with adhesive anyway so its probably not much different than it would be had it come from the factory.

That would definitely be the most cost effective solution!

So this is for the 5th gens? I haven’t gotten anything for mine besides the tail gate. I have noticed my hood flutters on the highway.

I just got my 2019 Ram 1500 a week ago. Long drive home with strong winds in the Mojave Desert didn't cause any hood flutter. This trip through the desert involved gusting cross and head winds. My truck build date is 09/2018. I'm pretty sure this was corrected in builds by September 2018.

I travel extensively using my Ram 2500... my 2019 had over 150K when I traded it last Monday for a newer 2020 model. Many times when on trips where high cross-winds or faced with high speed oncoming traffic, such as in Texas or Nevada, I thought for certain my hood was going to be ripped off by the wind force between two vehicles passing at a close proximity. I also encountered a wind shear on the freeway here in South Carolina that hit my truck so hard it felt like I hit a Prius!! That time I really did think the hood was coming off. If you drive in Wyoming or anywhere the wind speeds are excessive, you will know why the hood needs a LOT more reinforcement.
