I bought 5 mm LEDs pre wired from Amazon.
Strip each LED before gluing it into the vent. I learned this after the first one. The glue looks like it will keep water out, but I am going to put a sealant on the back of the vents just in case.
I will be running the white LEDs off of a switch and the amber directly into the turn signals. This is a weekend project so updates will come slowly. Plus my HIDs are arriving this week.
More to come.

Now that is impressive....depending on the outcome you may have just started a trend.

I like the turn signal idea. Be interested to see what the finished product looks like. Wasn't a big fan of hood lights but maybe you change my mind.

I have been thinking about installing hood lights that tap into the turn signals as well. However, I want the LEDs to roll on, like mustang turn rear turn signals used to do. I spent about 5 minutes trying to find control boards to do this but gave up.

I remember there being boards for mustangs that did the sequential turn signals in the 3v 05-09 body style. they didn't come factory until 09+. find two of those and just strip and wire them?

http://www.americanmuscle.com/a-sequential-taillights-splice-0509.html not the cheapest option, but an option none the less.

There is a company that does this but they charge a ridiculous amount for exactly what the OP is making.

This is going to be cool as **** if all works out. My only concern is that you may not have enough wires under your hood.. I'd add another 20 or so.

IMO

50 wires per vent. Definitely have to tidy them up before they go on.

Tackled all the wiring today. Hooked everything up and it works. Installing tomorrow.
