It is preferable to go for train horns as they serves the best purpose for a safe drive...your truck might really need that....

i know its a stretch, but can diablo sport tuning address this horn issue? i know its not really related to what they do, but maybe they can tap into this area somehow. its soo damn annoying, i just want a quick tap of the horn . instead ya get this delay and then a big honk making ya look like an ass.

I downloaded the Uconnect app for my Android and registered for the free trial access service. The app has a panic horn, a door lock and unlock, a vehicle start and shut off. I must say it would be handy to come out of a stadium behind 80K fans and hit your remote horn to find your truck but the delay in that is unreal also. Forget about using it as a panic button. The delay using the uconnect service is literally a 2 minute process. My best guess is that is why we are getting such a delay. The horn has to be connected to the vehicle computer to accomplish this function. I want to get train horns anyway but if I were a fly on the wall I'd love to hear the neighbors complain behind my back when I toot my horn to say hello and it wakes up people blocks away.

What are your thoughts on this idea :
Disconnect the factory horn button at the steering column and install my own horn and run the connection to the factory horn button. I'm not talking about disabling the factory horn, only the disconnecting it at the switch. That way I can toot my horn quickly from the steering column and since I haven't disabled the factory system I can still use it with the uconnect service. Does that sound like it would work?

This is comedy!!! I thought i was the only who was bugged about the horn response. I too am one that WOULD give the wheel two quick smacks to neighbors as I drove by. The first time I tried it in the Ram I got nothing, thought the damn thing was broke!! Gave it a harder push and scared all of the kids playing outside making them cry!! "Jeez, what the hell was that!!?" SORRY!!! Now I just roll the window down and wave. Not doing that again. This horn is a joke. Good thing they are soooo good looking!! lol.

Mine doesn't blow with a tap either. I used to just bump my 05 for a small wakeup. Now I'm the azzhole that blasts his horn lol

Same here.. 2013 Express
Never used it before I saw this thread lol.

I know 1/2 a second isn't much.. But in near miss traffic situations, it can definitely make a difference.

We need to collectively get on Dodge to fix this IMO?
Whose good at organizing chit? haha

My horn sounds like something off a kids toy...probably wouldn't startle a bird off my hood

I had this exact experience the first week I bought my truck. A co-worker passed by me at an intersection and tapped his horn. I try to tap mine, then press harder and it blasts like a damned train.
We had a good laugh about it, later that day.

I would say this is more of a concern than just 'tooting' the horn when greeting a neighbor.

Assuming the 'delay' from pressing the horn 'button' is .5 seconds, and assuming traveling at a speed of 60 MPH and needing to warn another vehicle, for whatever reason, the distance covered before the actual horn sound occurs could result in an accident, or worse injury or death.

Has anyone communicated this matter to Chrysler? If so, was there any response?
