Saw a post on Facebook about this stuff, supposedly they're looking for people to try it out and I guess leave feedback on it. Was free, just had to pay shipping, which was $9. I'm due for an oil change, figured I'd try it out. I don't have the lifter issue, knock on wood, but reading the label, says it cleans oil passages and adds lubricity. Order came in, for some reason they sent me 2 bottles instead of 1, so if it works, I have enough for 2 oil changes. Reviews on their other products seems legit, so..

I stay away from oil additives. If you're using a quality oil then what is the point?I'm sure there will be plenty of home chemists that mix all sorts of stuff in their crankcase and swear it improves mpg or makes the engine smoother but I'm not going to risk compromising the synergistic properties of the additive packages already in the motor oil.

It looks like it's listed on their site but under R&D. No MSDS available.

Engine Silencer

Wonder what's in it.

Their website and product reviews on other items seem pretty promising.

I'd love to send BlackStone Labs a sample for testing.

I personally haven't used oil additives for many years and many vehicles ago. But, we have seen the benefits of moly additives on our engines. Doubt you will hurt anything testing it. I would shorten your OCI significantly if you are beta testing a new product though. Seems a little strange to me that it's an engine cleaner additive but also says it reduces engine noise and piston slap. Wouldn't that mean it's a thickener too? How thick is it compared to a bottle of regular Hemi oil like 5w-20 or 5w-30 if you shake it?

If it would have been a no name brand, I wouldn't have bought, but a lot of their other products seem to have pretty solid reviews, and have tested well on YouTube channels like project farm. I'm due for an oil change, and this cost me almost the same as a quart of oil. I'm currently running napa full synthetic 5w-30 and napa gold filter and a bottle of lubegard. Again, most of the products from hot shots have pretty solid reviews. If it works, great, if not I'll flush it and do another oil change.

Hot Shot's Secret has a good reputation in the diesel engine categories, top performing diesel fuel additives.

Keeping the weak Hemi oiling system clean is important, yet this is accomplished by using top quality oils and low (<5k) OCI's. More important is the oil type, oil filter restriction, and engine idle speed.

Anything that restricts oil flow through these engines is not a good thing. So why do we use 30 weight oils? Because there's such a thing as too thin an oil, also. It's a balance between flow rate and engine wear. 30 is the right balance, the only exception being trucks towing full time up hills in hot regions, then 40 weight.

"Lubricates and Cleans" are their words, which usually means esters or similar, or two competing technologies such as moly and solvent, but we really don't have any info. Hopefully we get a uoa with oxidation numbers and sds, until then it wont be going into my sump. Hot Shots is a good additive company, mostly for diesels if memory serves.

Did an oil change this morning, same as before, Napa full synthetic 5w-30, 7060 gold oil filter and 1 quart of the new hot shots Engine silencer. Also cleaned out my catch can, which seemed to have significantly less oil than it has had in the past. Previous oil change had some lubegard in it. Oil pressure at hot idle was dropping to 29/30 psi and maintained about 50-52 at cruise speeds. Would peak out at about 75 psi at high rpm when cool (190 coolant temp, <122 oil temp) before changing the oil. Haven't put any mileage on it since the oil change with the engine silencer. Fwiw, it's not a heavy oil, probably similar in viscosity to 5w-30 maybe slightly heavier. It also didn't smell like oil, kind of hard to describe. Didn't smell like a solvent.
I'll order a sample kit and send it off for testing after a few thousand miles.

I have been using Motor-Kote for 20 years, you don't replace a quart of oil, I add 2oz. per quart ( 7 qts add 14oz. ) it reads over on the dipstick for about a week, after it absorbs into the parts, yor dipstick reading is back to normal, if you check out their website, it's a hyper-lubricant. I put it in anything with oil !! Been a Mechanic since 1971, never had anything like it. for me and my friends we Love this stuff !!

just for informed reasons, see the results of motorkote type additives.

The brand of motor oil you use has an additive pack developed by that brand. Different brands have different additives all added to a mostly standard base oil. Adding additives to the oil can cause the properties of the oil to change turning the oil caustic, acidic ect.
I would never add oil additives to my vehicle, fuel additive is a different animal.
