Verndiesel has a 1500 ecodiesel he uses to deliver rv’s all over. A 1500 would work...... depending on what you’re delivering. Obviously a 40’ gooseneck is out of the equation. But yes I’m sure you could find a niche spot if you searched. Why do people on here always think only heavy stuff needs delivered loll

Seems like a good way to kill a 1500. Just buy a Sprinter van or a 2500 Cummins with trailer.
You’re assuming he has to haul heavy I’m guessing.... why would it hurt a 1500 over a 2500? Again assuming you think he only can carry heavy.

Well generally it would be an oddball item for length or packaging or whatever. And usually it would be heavy. All the freight companies offer this type of service. They gouge people on the odd ****.
The cummins because it will live years past our cams and lifters wiping out.
Having some experience in the world of logistics, even if you hauled something light 600mi, you still have to get a backhaul or spend your profits driving home. Would you want to wait around at a Motel 6 for a load that could fit?
Im just saying there are much better options to maximize your profits.

THis^^^ and mostly hot-shot stuff IS heavy because if it were light/small, you'd just FedEX/UPS it.

Last milage check in Vern was already in the 520K mile range(new engine at 371K due to head gasket leak). The better efficiency of the diesel towing TTs probably helps in profitably vs using a Hemi.

Longevity and fuel consumption of a gas engine make it less desirable. Plus frequent maintenance intervals become annoying.

That and a 1500 limits load options dramatically. With a 2500-3500 diesel you can rack up the miles with less deadheading as your options for loads aren’t restricted to very light loads. The 1500 will easily move a 5k load long haul, the 2500 will also move a 5k load, Only one of them will be moving 12k loads is my point.

Be sure to up your insurance for business and check DOT limits for commercial as they vary state to state

It could, but no enough payload so you're limited on what jobs you could take. Only stuff you'd make money on is emergency delivery small items and that means no life as you're always on call short notice. Really should have a 3500 and either an enclosed car hauler type trailer or flat deck trailer to make the most money for time spent. Winch trailer and ramps add the options of car/truck hauling so also worth having.

There is a reason you DON'T see 1500 Hotshot trucks on the road. They just don't last as long as a 2500 or 3500 series would under the same conditions. You want to work your 1500 to make money? Become a UBER driver.

I've always wanted to get a 3500 diesel with a nice car hauler and deliver hot rods and such across the US. Maybe even start my own southern auto dealership up here in the N.E.

It would be cool to just take my boys and go.
