I've been thinking of stopping the mods on my 3rd Gen and saving up for a 2009, because it has the 4th Gen look and will probably be the cheapest. After my summer job Ill have a nice chunk of change, in addition to trading in my 3rd Gen to upgrade, I think I would be on a nice path.

The reviews all seem pretty nice, but would like to hear from some people with 2009 experience. If I could find it, Id probably want a 5.7L HEMI Sport Crew Cab 4x4, with the Ram Boxes :D (I've always wanted color matching, the HEMI power, Crew Cab and its storage sounds nice, and 4x4 will be fun)

Is there any mass problems with the 2009's, being the first 4th Gen year?
What would be a good amount of miles to look for on a truck 4 years old?
And from what I understand, do dealers not take into consideration mods? So would my best bet be trying to return it to stock and sell the aftermarket parts?
Also, is the TRX4 just a useless trim? That's my impression from what I've been reading.

Thanks, guys!

Oh yeah! The 4.7 is nice, but would rather start modding on a HEMI thats already got POWA!
Do you know what trim lines the HEMI is available for?

Did they have Ram Boxes in '09? I thought they came out in '11, I didnt think they had been around that long. I guess you might be able to put a newer box on an '09 frame if you were inclined.

they came out in 09 on the 1500s, only on the crew cabs.

Might be fun finding one. It was a $$ option.....

I may be wrong, but it dont seem like the Ram Box is that old. again, nothing swapping the Cargo box wont fix if ya want it that bad, consider it the first mod to your 4th gen.

Ahhhh, yeah I just looked it up too. $1,895! lol. Well, I've got plenty of time to start my search :) I may just throw on some tows and possibly a 6" lift, in the mean time. Sell everything else on my 3rd Gen and save up for a 2009 <3

I love my 09. I have 2wd rcsb, so nothing you are looking for but as far as the engine or tranny goes, no issues. I have 44k on mine so far

Yeah looks like they came out with the 2009. Like JJ said though it was a $ option, which is possibly why they seem rare?

May be a 2010 with the Ram box, a year newer and maybe the boxes were more readily available. Not that youd want to go buy a nice newer vehicle and then have to invest another butt load of $ on, oh, wait, thats what we do, well then , go on Ebay and find a wrecked or parted out 4 th Gen with Ram Box'es and there you go.

LOL! Does seem a bit crazy. Guess its not a necessity, but a luxury :( A capacity of 120 cans ( of soda, for me, ;) lol ) EACH does sound real awesome though!

Looks like the Boxes for the 2011 and newer models are around $1200 now.

the bed space it takes up, and the limited options for bed accessories are a real turn off.

I can fit a ****load of cans in a cooler, and thats cheaper, albeit not as spiffy. :D

My stepdad loves his ram boxes. Lol. He trailers everything anyways. They come to about an inch over the wheel wells. And he doesn't use them for coolers. Lol. Stores a bunch of tools and what not there.

Haha, True that! Two $20 dollar coolers + bed space vs. $2000 for boxes.... still a great concept though. I read on another forum, a guy said he could fit 4 shotguns in his box lol.

I waited 3 months for mine. Between the options, color, and reg cab, there were none around. I couldn't be happier, though I was hesitant when ordering it. Keep in mind, since 2011, it's not Dodge Ram anymore, just Ram :) and couldn't beat the price for a custom ordered new ram!
