How do you know if you have 3:21 or 3:92?

Put your VIN in the box in this link and it will tell you. https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing

This is a great tool to have and a great tool to use prior to buying as well. I've used that while shopping for the 3 rams I've had, really helps eliminate what seems like 80-90% of the trucks out there that come with the 3.21's. At least in my part of the country.

Lots of other good info on those build sheets as well.

Could also have 3.55's.

Like said, the vast majority of 8spds have 3.21's with a mix of 3.55s and 3.92s in there.

If your tach says two grand at 72 miles an hour you have a 3.92.....if not it's a 3.21.

Ok I tried the VIN lookup and it comes back with “no record of VIN found.” Weird! Could it be due to having a Canadian sold truck originally?

Make sure If there is a “0” in your VIN, you type it as a zero, not an oh.

I have a Canadian sold truck as well that spent most of its life in Quebec but the bonus was that it came with a block heater, steering wheel heater and seat heating and air conditioning. Plus barely any surface rust at all.

Same here! (Minus the seat ventilation.) And I have quite a bit of a rusty underside.

How does the engine block heater work?

I don’t know how well it works yet as I bought the truck in January and never bothered to use it. I would imagine as long as the fuse is good and there’s no rust on the plug, it should work fine.

Thx. So at what temperature should I be using it? I live in N Virginia DC Metro area and we maybe only have a week or two of temps in the teens every year.
Also, where is the plug?

I generally start using it when it gets to below 32 degrees. My plug was on my passenger side beside the radiator. The cord ran up over the the upper radiator support and draped down between the radiator and grill/headlights. Yours could still be down below the radiator. It looks like an extension cord that you can see the 3 wires as the cable is thin. Mine is a black cable. I generally will either pop the hood and leave it under the hood or I’ll drop the cable and run the extension cable under the bumper. But I don’t like leaving the plug down there as I don’t want it to rust or corrode so I try to remember to bring it back over the top of the radiator support when it’s not plugged in.
