Ok here goes, my Ram is about to hit 150,000 miles on it. All of which have been put on by myself and my wife. My thing is that I love adding things to my vehicles to prevent me from my former habit of buying a new vehicle each year. This truck currently had added the following.
Hids plus the correct harness
Replacement oem foglights
Level ( soon to be replaced with Bilstein 5100)
5" muffler tips with resonator removed
2013+ Sport LED lights with correct harness
All LED lights
87mm ported throttle body
Have ordered a S&B cai.

The truck runs well and has never stranded me, but at this junction in time I'm thinking its best to just keep maintenance up as opposed to modding.

I have (2) other vehicles which to play with, but neither is as fun as the Ram. Would you if this were yours keeping adding things, or just stop at my current list ?

Ha, I had 30,000 on mine the first year of ownership. According to my shop mine runs like a champ. If I remotely suspect something of being off, I have it taken care of. I don't tow, haul, or carry anything in the bed. Basically it's a minivan for me taking my daughters to and from every place teenage girls need to go.

I have had multiple trucks with super high miles. None of them rams but none the less a late model is a late model to me. In 2006 I had a 01 f-150 with 212k miles never left me stranded factory engine trans and diff. I also had a 2006 from 2011-2014 when I got my ram. It had 271k when I got it and had over 300 when I traded it in. At 280k the trans finally let go. In the 3 years I had that truck I put trans, alternator, battery and egr, totaling about 2-2500 in parts you can do the math that's $70 a month. If the truck drive straight and true no exsessive play in the steering, fires right up and runs strong I would run that thing into the ground if its paid for. All my trucks still had good and tight steering good safe road manners and when I stuck the key in it fired right off. My buddy's dad has a 05 ram hemi and he's running right around 170-200k and his truck purrs like a hemi should. If you have owned the truck its hole life and maintained it properly keep adding parts to keep you happy with it keep some dedicated money for repairs and then the miles really don't matter if it drives good.

If you are gonna keep it, keep modding it IMHO. Why stop? Most of what you will do is bolt on so you can always remove it if you decide to sell it on. I had 140K on my 07 MegaCab and a lot of my bolt on goodies when right on the 2014.

Good luck!

Naw I have no need to sell, just don't want to add too many items that would have to be stripped off if it went belly up. I'm thinking after I find a great reputable 4x4 shop to do my Bilstein install, then I'm just doing all audio from here forth. :)

I'm of the mindset that you should MOD everything you want ASAP on a vehicle you plan on keeping for a long time. That way you get your money's worth.

That being said, you could keep on going, but how much longer will you have the truck for?

It's my 3rd vehicle so it's going to be with us until it blows up. But the key is that I would prefer not to sink $10,000 more into and put too much stress on it. I'm thinking add the Bilsteins 5100 and do the audio and rock it till the end.

If it's your third vehicle and only has 150,000, I could see it lasting many many years. I would vote mod away.

I hope for 10-12 years out of this truck! I have demanded that out of my GM vehicles for decades. I tend to average 15-20k miles a year, but I've had years with much higher mileage. My brother in law put about 250k on an old 99 5.2? 5.9? Magnum gasser V8 before it crapped out on him back about 2 years ago.

So now that I am averaging about 10,000 miles per year I should be good for another 10 then. :)

My 99 Sport 5.2 was traded in for my 2014 Express at 224,000 miles.
