OIL UDDER
Thinking of buying a deluxe set since my Jifflube fell out of grace with me.

I notice they use a RAM in their demos.
Never knew it was such a pain?
I know why now giving my truck a girls name was appropriate.

so, what size up bigger for the 2020 1500 oil filter?

The below part numbers are for Royal Purple filters... other than the Fram XG10060, of course.
I have the largest one, the 20-820 on my truck now. It ALMOST doesnt fit. I had to install it dry because you basically have to shove it through the tiny opening RAM allows you.
Ill be going with the medium sized filter next time, the 20-500.

"Handy database.

Database's filter capacity is stated in displacement - is not the filter area, only the canister volume. If you equate a rough correlation between canister volume and filter area, the Royal Purple filters are as follows:
10-48 = 28.21 cu. in. standard size
20-500 = 37.95 cu. in. oversize length +34% volume
20-820 = 45.60 cu. in. oversize diameter +62% volume
EDIT:
Fram XG10060 = 23.54 cu. in. -16.5% less volume!!!

So yes, 20-820 provides the biggest canister, but 20-500 provides the exact match fit to the engine interface and gives 1/3 more volume, so I think I'll just try that for minimal problems." - HEIMIMANN

Excellent information. I've been using the 20-820. It's definitely a tight fit in there, and forget about using a standard band style wrench on it LOL. I'll be going with the 20-500 from now on.

Best filter wrench ive ever used is an old leather belt. I can crush oil filters it grabs them so tight.
