How heck do you tighten the cam bolt? With engine in the truck.

Changing out the cam and lifters. But I've come to a complete halt trying to figure this part out. I tried to hold the crank bolt against the frame but it just ends up loosening instead of course. I tried a strap wrench around the crank but it doesn't grab. The written and video DIY I'm using skip any sort of explanation and I can't find a tool online for this.

About to start pulling my hair out! Lol

2014 1500 5.7.

Edit in case anyone in the future is scratching their head asking the same thing..

pull the starter and use a primary to hold the fly wheel in place.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I was also tempted to make a piston stop with angle iron a block of wood and the old head bolts, would've been plan B; i just didn't wanna try and possibly pull the threads out of the block if that's possible *****.

I'm away from the truck now, is it hard to reach the starter?
Not really, but it's probably easier to build a piston stop, and then you'll have it for the next time .Build it similiar to the summit one, then it's universal. A piece of 2" angle iron with 2 slotted holes and a threaded center hole you can run a bolt into that contacts the piston. If you want to get fancy, weld a flat washer to the end of the bolt where it contacts the piston to spread the load out on the piston top

That's cool.
This would be the way if I ordered ahead of time. I went with the pry bar in the flywheel method. It was really quick to pull off with the head and manifold out of the way. I'm gonna keep it off for when I put the new crank bolt in as well.
