It’s not that hard just make sure that you put the new one on a piece of cardboard and lay it on the ground so that way when you’re taking off the bolts one at a time you can put them on tge new one where they belong there all different sizes easy to confuse them. Once removed swat one at a time to tge old one then install. Use the gasket for sure!!So far it sounds like it's worth changing. Thanks guys
70k? Yup!I changed the water pump on my 11 at about 70k miles. It wasn't leaking but the bearing was making noise
If you’re running a clutch fan do it sooner than laterMy truck is a 2013 at around 160 000 km (100 000 miles)
I try and balance my maintenance by mileage and time of year, it's cold in Canada so I prefer to work in the summer when I can.
This summer I will be giving my coolant system some love. I have the coolant and I'm going to replace the thermostat and the rad cap.
The ex mechanic in me says this is a really good time to swap out the water pump, but I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble. I haven't heard of a lot of guys having water pump issues on here so I thought I'd ask first.
Thanks in advance.
I replaced my water pump on my 2015 Ram Big Horn with over 100K miles, YOUTUBE has some good videos, big help, trace new water pump and mark bolt holes on cardboard template, bought replacement water pump kit. Kit comes with fan clutch, replaced thermostat, didn't realize it was 185deg but this doesn't seem to be a problem with it running cooler. My truck is a 2013 at around 160 000 km (100 000 miles)
