My 07' Quad Cab 1500, rwd, 5.7L HEMI has 96,626 miles on the odometer. I check the belt for wear & cracks and the belt tensioner to make sure the belt hasn't reached the max limit, every time I am under the hood. I plan to replace the serpentine belt, belt tensioner, and both idle pulleys at 100K miles even if the parts are still serviceable.

Original belts on my 2013 Ram 5.7 Hemi, 206,000 miles now. Just had it serviced last week and it still looks good. Usually you'll get little tell tell signs when it is heading toward failing. Usually... now the cam was another story. It failed at 113K. Under factory warranty (I have the MOPAR lifetime powertrain warranty) they did the cam/lifters, water pump, timing gears and chain, along with new antifreeze and the exhaust manifolds. And the engine is amazingly still clean. This has been a great truck other than the cam issue.

Replaced mine at 89000 miles and it was still going strong with no wear or tear

I'd have to check my owners manual if it is listed. I know my Town and Country (212,000 mile now) states to change the timing belt (which we don't have on our Hemi) around 100,000 miles but the serpentine is a little after that.

Sounds dumb to me since the serp has to come off to change the timing belt. I change both at 100,000 or sooner. Serp did not show much wear but cheap insurance against being stranded.

I will not go over 100,000 miles on my truck but I will inspect from time to time.

You know, I haven't had any belt issues in so long I've lost the habit of checking them. Both of my 4th gen Rams went 100K plus and were still working. Had 140K on my '03 Dakota 4.7 and was still original. The only belt that's broken for me in 50+ years was our 2000 Toyota Avalon.

Belts and belt materials have come a long ways.

Interested to know if owners have experienced this belt failure, and at how many miles?

I have replaced mine once. I have a 2004 Ram with 106,500 miles. The belt wasn't worn out but did it as a precautionary measure. I recommend either a Mopar or Gates belt.

I had an 05 for 15 years and a quarter-million miles.
Never had a belt fail, and never had to change one by the looks of it being due.

HOWEVER, I did change the serpentine belt several times while I was changing a water pump, radiator, etc.

I would characterize that more as a "while I'm there" thing than a shoddy belt thing.

220K miles on my 2016 Ram 2500 Cummins, still looking good. I really think it is time to replace it, maybe next month. The quality of belts have improved drastically.
