Hello just a quick question. Getting ready to make my order for sound deadening type mat (Dynamat). I don't think I will be buying the leading brand mat on the market. I did a couple of Google searches and found some great options, that will save me a few bucks.
Just wondering how much have others used in doing there trucks. Mine is a single cab. I'm thinking on doing the roof, door panel area's, behind the seat, rear of cab. The floor pan and fire wall. which will be easy at this point since I have the complete cab stripped.
So thank you in advance for your imput. Ken

I did sound proofing on my 73 regular cab. which is the same basic structure as yours. I did not do the roof since I don't have a headliner just bare metal.

I did the entire floor and firewall. I added batting before putting in carpet for extra measure. As well, since I deleted my HVAC, I lined the back side of the "kick panel" area. I did add some to the rear of the cab then covered it. I then did the doors on the sheet metal side to dampen vibration noise.

On the engine bay side, I added a butyl-aluminum type heat shield - sound deadener to the firewall. While I had the cab off the frame, I also applied sound deadener - 'rust proofing' coating to the floor from the underside.

I made sure with the HVAC delete that I plugged all possible holes. I know it worked since shutting the doors is difficult unless I crack a window.

I then added body gap seals at the leading edge of the doors as well as new door seals to cut wind noise.

having done all that, it's still rediculously loud in my cab.

other ways to cut noise is if you're doing a custom exhaust. I am running long tube headers, flexible connector to 2 1/2 inch tubing running immediately into a straight through resonator with the muffler tucked in where the spare tire would be. This gives me absolutely no drone at any speed. it's a 2 into 1 system though.

Thanks for the great input. But I'm ordering parts right now, do I need one box or two boxes?
I'm not spraying any undercoating on or under this truck. It to clean to cover up all the original paint that has hung around, so nicely all these years. Its nice and shiney under there. This truck isn't going anywhere near mud or stuff that will muck it up while I own it. Which most likely won't be all that long. I never keep anything very long. Everything has a price. Thanks Ken
